Thank goodness someone stepped in for 'Kanga Roo!'

Just like babies, kittens are some of the cutest things on the planet.

There’s a reason why so many of us can disappear down a cat video YouTube hole, or why human interest magazines sell so many copies when there are babies on the front. Still, just like babies, kittens are sometimes born into the world with birth defects that make their life a little harder.

One such kitten was born in Northern California.

The little kitty’s name is Kanga Roo and after looking at her it’s easy to see why!

Kanga Roo was born with a relatively rare congenital birth defect called radial agencies, resulting in the malformation of the bones in two of her legs. As a result, her front legs can’t really carry any weight and only her back legs are functional. When Kanga Roo was turned into a veterinary clinic at only four weeks old, the intention was to have her euthanized.

Fortunately, someone intervened before that could happen.

A woman named Cara decided to foster the little kitty to make sure she was safe.

In the meantime, she also contacted Saving Grace Rescue, a non-profit for at-risk kittens based out of San Francisco, to see if someone would give Kanga Roo a permanent home. For her part, Kanga was adapting well to her surroundings despite being so small—she was learning to use her back legs to move around!

After seeing a video of the kitten in action, a woman named Grace adopted little Kanga Roo.

As it turns out, all the little kitten needed was a safe and loving place to flourish! Now, Kanga hops around all on her own and has grown tremendously in a short time. She even has her own social media accounts so that fans can follow her adventures online.

In fact, Kanga Roo is an adult now—and serves as a guardian and a mom to many more adopted kittens!

Above all, this story shows just how much life can endure under the right circumstances.

Although we are quick to discard things that are different (and especially animals), all the kind folks who gave Kanga Roo a chance along her journey proved how much kindness can accomplish. Through it all, Kanga Roo has proven that their faith wasn’t misplaced.

Congratulations to Joyce and Kanga Roo on their cat family!
