We often hear of animals with amazing talents. From a drumming gorilla to talking dolphins, animals are constantly blowing us away with their extraordinary gifts. It is amazing that these creatures could be capable of human skills.

One animal has captured countless hearts with her unique ability. She is a cow named Frieda. Cadbury, self-described on their website as “a British multinational confectionery company, has released several videos of this cow and her hidden talent: tap dancing.

Of course, the videos are the product of professional animations, but that doesn’t stop them from attracting plenty of attention. More than a million people have viewed this video of Frieda the tap dancing cow, and her other videos are just as popular. It turns out people can’t get enough of an animal with some rhythm.

Frieda’s performances might not be real, but there is some truth behind the viral videos. A study conducted by psychologists from the University of Leicester suggests that female cows produce more milk when they listen to slow tunes. This is insightful research for dairy farmers.

The life of a dairy cow is, to say the least, far from glamorous. It makes sense that the animals would feel distressed in such loud, crowded, and confusing environments. Knowing that slow paced music is relaxing to a cow can help farmers improve the lives of the animals they tend, and they will get more milk out of the endeavor, too.

How does this work? UPI explains that “when a cow is stressed, the release of oxytocin is slowed – the hormone is central to the milking process.” So when a cow is able to listen to relaxing music, she will become less stressed. Then hormone production will increase, and more milk will come out.

Frieda’s tap dancing routine may be based on some solid science, but her videos definitely don’t lack silliness. In this particular one, the cow bops along to Fred Astaire’s “Putting On The Ritz.” The song is a classic, and the music is perfectly coordinated with the cow’s choreography. This is one funny video.

Animals have captivated our attention with many exciting talents, but perhaps none are as unique as this tap dancing cow. Frieda’s performance reminds us that all animals have intelligence, and they are all capable of incredible things.
