For those who love their pets more than anything, the thought of abandoning them is unfathomable. That animal is part of your family and you need to be there for it no matter what. Of course, most people agree with this. But for some other people, it’s just not that simple.

Sometimes, people simply cannot take care of their animals for one reason or another. But other times, they just don’t want their pets anymore. That’s especially sad when there’s something wrong with the animal in question.

That’s what happened to one puppy

This American Staffordshire Terrier was just a baby when he was left at an animal shelter in North Carolina. At that time, he was only eight weeks old. Yet, he was already separated from his mom.

He had some problems

The dog wasn’t mean or causing any issues. Rather, he had some genetic issues. His ears were mismatched and he was blind in one eye.

His owners didn’t want him

The owners decided they didn’t want an animal with so many health problems. Instead of providing him with care, they wanted to get rid of them. That’s when they dropped him off at the shelter.

They didn’t care about his fate

Most people who drop an animal off at a shelter want to know the animal is going to be as safe as possible. But not these people. They even said they didn’t care if the shelter put him down.

Irresponsible breeders

There’s a good chance this dog came from irresponsible breeders. Maybe these people just wanted to make money and didn’t have any interest in caring for their dogs. Whatever the case may be, it’s heartbroken to see a pet abandoned like that.

The shelter took good care of him

Luckily, the shelter knew they needed to provide proper care for this sweet pup. So, they got him all fixed up. After receiving much-needed medical care, he was happier than ever. They also named him Captain Morgan.

He went to a foster home

Instead of having to stay in a shelter the entire time, this adorable pup went to a foster home. There, he received the care he deserved. Compared to his first home, he was probably a lot happier with his foster family.

The pup found a home

After staying with his fosters for a while, Captain was finally adopted. It might’ve helped that he had a Facebook page dedicated to his adoption. It was called “Help the Captain Find His Ship.”

He now lives a happy life

There’s no need for anyone to worry about this little guy. He’s living a happy life with his family in his new home. He might still have those same imperfections but that’s what makes him so special. His family loves him even more for all those issues.

Captain has a brother

Not only did Captain find a family to live with but those people also have another dog. He’s now friends with a beautiful gray pup. They clearly love each other a lot. They may just be the cutest duo ever.
