It is heartbreaking to hear about the news of dogs being left behind and not receiving the love and care they deserve.
They transform into animals who barely live because they are not fed properly. At some point, we can even witness these poor pups growing thinner and more malnourished and they end up looking like they are made of only skin and bones.
This very thing happened to one husky who looked like he was a walking skeleton. Unlike what a husky should look like, this dog has grown so thin and weak and hairless that he eventually became so skinny and pitiful.
Ryker may seem to be a hopeless case, but someone found him and never gave up on him.
The husky who was supposed to be strong, with lively eyes, playfulness, and a body full of healthy hair now looks like he is about to die. His bones were all sticking out because he was so thin and malnourished.
His body was full of parasites and he certainly looked like he has not been eating the right way for months. He appeared to be dying, but he was fortunate enough to come across people who were willing to help him back to health.
His former owners gave up on him and went to the vet clinic so they can put him down.
However, the people from an animal rescue group who call themselves Friends of Faye stepped in to help the skinny pup. They believed that the husky has so much to live for and knew exactly what he needed.
They brought him to a foster fur mom named Hillary.
“From the day we met him, he was wagging his tail the whole time,” Hillary said. “It’s like he glowed. He was always smiling. He was just happy.”
What Ryker was suffering from was a condition called mange partnered with severe malnourishment due to starvation.
The dog was also found to have a heart murmur and ear infections. Nursing him back to health will surely be a challenge, but Hillary and the animal rescue group were determined to help the dog.
“I realized he has this growl. I’ll remember it for the rest of my life, the day that he spoke to us for the first time, and then he never stopped,” Hillary fondly recalled.
Hillary did her best to bring Ryker back to his health.
The dog stayed in her home and was given full attention, and proper food, and was given medication for his parasites, mange, and infections. He may be sick but he slowly learned to socialize and have fun while at the foster home.
The vet gave him emergency care and was monitored regularly so he can return to being a lively and healthy dog in no time. After only six weeks, the improvement in the husky was quite unbelievable.
In less than a couple of months in the home, Ryker started growing muscles and has become an energetic and happy dog.
His transformation is absolutely remarkable! Are you curious about this dog’s incredible journey? Watch the video to learn more about his story.
