Staying in a hotel and living the life of luxury for a week or two has to be the best thing about going on vacation, but one hotel found a way to make things even more appealing.
When Home2 Suites by Hilton Biloxi North/D’Iberville decided to cater for animal lovers by bringing in dogs from a local rescue center, it was a win/win situation. They brought the shelter dogs from Humane Society of South Mississippi into their lobby and gave dog lovers a chance to ‘foster’ them during their stay, with the added bonus that many people decided to adopt the dog that they’d created a bond with at the end of their vacation.
The Fostering Hope program has now been running long-term since October 2018, and so far, at least 34 dogs have been adopted. Judging by the adorable pictures shared on home2suite’s Instagram, we’d want to take every single pooch back with us!
The hotel’s amazing program also benefits the shelter by making more room for stray dogs. The shelter takes in about 8,000 dogs a year and adopts out close to 80% of them, so having more space is always going to be a benefit.
Teresa Johnston, the hotel’s sales director, first had the idea for the program.
“We have a lot of extended-stay guests with Keesler Air Force Base, Ingalls Shipbuilding and other supporting industries. I could see that our guests were lonely, and I wanted to fill a void for them and at the same time help our community.”

1. No Love Like Puppy Love
Because who doesn’t want to be cuddled up with this fluffy guy on Valentine’s day? We’d take a dog over a date any day!

3. Spa time
Who says that dogs can’t visit the spa? Dogs need an occasional pamper just as much as us humans do, and we can’t help thinking that this isn’t the first time this pooch has been to a spa!
4. RPF (Resting Pup Face)
This pup may not have the biggest smile, but deep down we know he’s thrilled to be living the life of luxury in his very own hotel suite! What we’d give to spend some time with this sweet boy.
5. Seeing double
Not only does the hotel have super comfy beds, but there are also some super-fun mirrors for the dogs to check themselves out in! What a handsome boy.

Big or small, every dog is welcome at the Home 2 Suites. The beds are always big enough, and the cuddles are never-ending.
