Horses are interesting creatures. They can act and have emotions similar to humans. When this man begins to play his native flute to a small herd of horses on a local ranch, he gets all sorts of reactions from them.

The man has tried this trick before, but the horses didn’t seem to like the sound. “I played a very high flute, and especially in the high notes they don’t really like it. So now I’m going to play on an F sharp, a very low, deep tone.”

At first, the horses don’t seem to mind. In fact, one can’t be bothered at all and walks way from the flute player. The other the horse thats closest to the man, is pretty curious getting up close and personal to see where the sound is coming from.

The man begins to play for another horse thats relaxing in the pen, and he seems to be relaxed by the soothing sounds of the native flute. What’s more interesting is watching the white horse in the background. He shows some curiosity, but then leaves the frame. Not too much later he walks directly in front of the camera, clearly interested in the serenade happening in his pen.

The white horse continues to walk around the man as he plays, not hating the sound of the flute, but interested in learning more.

Before you know it there are three horses surrounding him, all looking as if they are fans at a concert wanting to hear their favorite artist. The white horse inches closer as the man continues to play while the others simply look mesmerized by the sounds.

You can tell by the look on the horses faces that they aren’t sure what to think. Music can bring out a lot of different reactions in animals, this being a perfect example. The man mentions that they don’t like high tones, but they three horses seem more relaxed when the tones are low like he plays in the video.

There are other animals that react to music and noise, like dogs. They have sensitive hearing so tend to dislike high, whistle tones and loud noises. It’s even been proven that plants thrive in environments with soft classical music opposed to heavy metal, a sounds that puts stress on the plants.

The video slowly draws to a close as the man drops the flute away from him. “He says thank you.” he says to the camera as the horse nudges him one last time. Watch the video below to fall into the same state of relaxation as these horses do listening to the soft flute.
