It may be a natural bodily function, but passing gas can be embarrassing for everyone involved. But did you know that embarrassing toots aren’t just a human problem? In this video, a young girl discovers that humans and animals are a lot more alike then she ever thought.

It all started on a crisp autumn day…
The video opens on what appears to be a crisp autumn day. A horse is meandering down a road while two girls are skipping along. They’re having the time of their lives watching the horse’s slow trot and enjoying what has to be a brisk but rejuvenating morning.

The girls reach out to the horse to pet it as it continues down the road towards what looks like a barn. The horse doesn’t seem to mind the company as it just continues along on its way.

The second horse enters the scene but doesn’t seem to be in the best mood
But then, a second horse enters the picture. One of the girls hangs back so she can get a better look at the horse. The girl’s mother, holding the camera, asks the girl to be careful, since this horse seems to be in a little bit more of a hurry. But the girl is still so eager to pet and walk with the horse so she’s not heeding these signs.

The girl misses the signs and keeps pace with…
The girl and horse walk a short distance away. While one of the younger girls races away to keep up with the first horse, one remains behind to stay with the second one. She hops into the grass alongside the road and watches the horse’s slow movements.

The toot heard round the field makes the girl lose her cool
Then, if you listen, you can hear the horse pass gas. It’s a small little toot that sends the girl scrambling and startles the horse. Everyone has a quick burst of speed getting away from the scene of the crime, but it’s all been caught on tape.

The mother laughs and asks “What was that?” and you can see the horse pick up the pace as it tries to rush towards the barn. It’s a very human moment shared by anyone who had an embarrassing slip in a very public place.

Girl rushes to her sister and then…
The scared girl then runs back towards her sister. You can imagine the giggling between the children as they talk about what just happened and mention that their mother caught the whole thing on film.

It’s not so weird when you consider…
The little girl and horse were clearly surprised, but passing gas isn’t so uncommon for horses. Gas can build up from a wide range of sources, with the most common being horses that eat too fast or experience a sudden change of diet.

It’s a lot like humans who might not respond too well when they try new dishes or enjoy holiday meals too much, too soon.
Sometimes the best memories are also the most embarrassing
It doesn’t matter what caused the incident in this video. The mother of the two girls recorded a fun moment between her daughter and two horses and captured footage that’s sure to bring fond memories for years to come.
