Everyone’s life can be turned around at any time and regardless of their age.
No matter what the circumstances, if there are people out there willing to help you, your life can change for the better from one day to another.
This is what happened to Choco, a homeless man from Colombia, who used to live in the streets for years until the time came when he found the care and support he needed to turn his life around.
Someone was walking in the Bucaramanga area, Colombia, when they saw a special happening at some nearby steps.
A man was sitting there, accompanied by his two dogs. Suddenly, the man took two hats out and placed them on the dogs’ heads. Then, he took out what looked like a birthday cake, placed two candles on it, and started singing the birthday song to his furry friends.
Then, he lit the candles and blew them out, and he moved on to cut the cake and serve a slice to his dogs and himself.
The person filming the video made sure they captured the whole happening before they turned off the camera and went up to the man to have a chat.
It seems that the man’s name is Choco, full name Jose Luis Matos, and he has been homeless for at least the last seven years.
Choco confessed to his newly-made friend that he started living in the streets when he escaped an abusive home. Since then, he had been trying to change his life but he had had no luck so far.
Thankfully, he had his two best friends with him, his pups Nena and Shaggy, who he made sure had everything they needed as long as they were with him.

And this must be true, given that the guy even threw a birthday party for them!
The stranger was moved by Choco’s story and he decided to post it on social media. The response he got was unexpected.
People couldn’t stop writing positive comments for the homeless man and his behavior towards his pets. Many of them were also willing to donate in order to help Choco get back on his feet.
Indeed, a fundraiser has started since then, where people can donate money to help this amazing trio.
Jose Luis also has an Instagram account, where he shares his latest life updates.
In one post, he thanks God for giving him the chance to turn his life around. In the photo he posted, he can be seen sleeping in the street with his dogs in 2015 and then sleeping in a bed in 2022.
Choco is a lucky man and he knows it. He has been thanking everyone who supports him since, and he is now trying to pay forward the blessing he received by caring for animals and supporting related causes.
