Homeless man hears dogs barking for help on roof and runs when he sees flames approaching
For a minute there I honestly wasn't sure if he was going to make it. And to think there were 25 of them.

It is usually those who’ve experienced having nothing that give so much more in return.

A homeless man is being hailed as a hero after a heartwarming act of bravery.

And it took a lot of bravery.

A neighborhood in Gamarra was thrown into panic when a fire broke out at a recycling plant. The fire quickly spread to a nearby residential building.

Sebastian Arias was walking through the neighborhood when he saw the burning building.

The first thing he noticed was the number of dogs climbing to the topmost floor of the building.

There were dozens of them.

As the fire spread on the lower floors, the dogs were quickly trapped with nowhere else to go.

Arias, after assessing the situation, knows that he can’t just leave these animals behind.

In a video that quickly circulated on social media, Arias began climbing the building.

The harrowing rescue left the people in awe, admiration, and anxiety.

Arias slid himself across the railing of the topmost floor and toward the dog that was cornered at the ledge of the rooftop.

Arias broke the windows to see if there was a route he could take. When he saw none, he was left with no choice but to climb the side of the building.

After retrieving the stranded pup, he dropped the dog down to the firefighters waiting below.

The first responders caught the dog through a blanket.

They also provided the same assistance when it was Arias’ turn to climb down the building.

Firefighters also provided him with a ladder but, in the end, Arias’ didn’t use any of the assistive tools.

He jumped down from the building and escaped the ordeal largely unscathed.

Arias, originally from Colombia, was one of the workers at the recycling plant that caught on fire.

He lives under a bridge.

This is in the vicinity of Gamarra. He is also facing immense difficulties because his wife is also currently missing.

Despite these challenges, he never forgot about kindness and compassion. He knew that the residential building that burned with it was also a dog shelter.

The woman who owns the shelter was out shopping when the fire broke out.

With the shelter burnt down, the owner pleaded desperately for people to adopt the dogs. Through Arias’ efforts and the popularity of the video, some of the dogs already found their forever homes.

Two of the dogs were adopted.

One was even adopted by the town’s mayor.

In total, Arias saved 25 dogs from the tragic fire. It only goes to show that heroes can come from anywhere and even from the direst of circumstances.

People all over the world now call for the local community to help not only the dogs but Arias as well.

“Hopefully they help him find his wife and have a life with good conditions for her to live, she deserves it. I feel proud of this human being.” Said one through a translated comment.

“I hope they help the puppies and the boy who helped them, he deserves it.” Said another.
