Animals hold a special place in the hearts of millions. We love and cuddle with our pets. Fortunately, most people do an amazing job when it comes to caring for them. But sadly, a few are downright evil. Those are the people who abuse, neglect, or abandon pets for one reason or another.
Those stories break our hearts. Thankfully, individuals along with rescue organizations step in to help. They take these animals, have them treated by a vet, and then find them loving, forever homes.
Blistering hot day
It was a particularly hot day. As a matter of fact, the area was experiencing a heatwave that drove temperatures well into the triple digits. So, no matter where a person or animal was, it was hot.
An unbelievable sight
On this day, some people made a discovery they’ll never forget. There, inside of a trash container, was a small terrier pup. With the intense heat, this poor thing was being cooked alive and with no way out, he was completely helpless.
Good Samaritans
But this was the dog’s lucky day. Although some horrible person had dumped him, a group of good Samaritans were able to get him out of the container. They immediately began pouring water over his body to cool him down.
Others stepped in
This pup needed a lot more care. After being in the hot container, he was in bad shape. That’s when Viktor Larkhill and his amazing team of rescuers stepped in to take over. Their number one goal was to save this dog’s life and give him a new beginning.
Brokenhearted
After retrieving the dog, which he named Billy, Larkhill was incredibly sad. As he put it, “It brought tears to our eyes when we saw the video, imagining Billy’s desperate attempts to hold on to life.” [sic]
Heading to the vet
The first stop for Billy was to the veterinarian clinic. The vet discovered the dog was in even worse shape than initially thought. He was so sick that he couldn’t even stand or move. Along with that challenge, he had the parvovirus that if untreated, could easily kill him.
Receiving excellent care
Under the direction of the vet, Billy was treated. To give this sweet boy the best possible chance, someone was by his side 24 hours a day. The entire team was invested in this boy. Weeks later, he had transformed.
Caught on video
Reading about Billy’s story is one thing but someone captured his entire rescue on video. Since Larkhill uploaded, it’s been viewed more than 80,000 times. People from near and far commented in support of this pup, praying and sending good vibes that he’d survive the ordeal. The video starts shortly after Billy was discovered.
The rescue team arrives
Next, you see a white Jeep pull up. Larkhill quickly places Billy in a carrier so they can get him to the clinic. The minute he arrives, the team goes to work. They don’t waste a minute in giving this pup the care he desperately needs.
A fairytale ending
With so many people pitching in to help, Billy has since made a full recovery. And even better, he’s been adopted into a loving family. After learning about his harrowing experience, they love him all the more. Now, Billy is happy, safe, and healthy.
