We’ve seen a lot of videos showing dogs’ loyalty and genuine love toward their owners.
Some of them fend off wild animals like bears and snakes, while some dogs provide their owners with emotional support whenever their humans are feeling down.
We can’t deny the fact that dogs would do anything just to make sure their owners are safe and away from all sorts of danger.
On the other hand, we are ready to give the love back.
As responsible dog owners and true dog lovers, there is absolutely nothing in this world that we wouldn’t do for our beloved furry companions.
We give them a cozy bed, sumptuous treats, toys, and most especially our precious time and genuine love.
Our care for dogs could also come out naturally when facing emergency situations, just like what happened in this video.
On the morning of April 5, 2023, motorists crossing along westbound I-94 were cautious after a German Shepherd on the loose ran onto the dangerous freeway.
Thankfully, a Good Samaritan named Debbie Allen was there and immediately sprung into action. She stepped out of her car, sat beside the anxious dog, and didn’t leave its side to make sure it wouldn’t run into the running vehicles.
While waiting for rescue, Allen huddled against the freeway’s center divider and cornered the German Shepherd to ensure its safety.
Destined to be there.
As fate would have it, Allen said she was on her way to meet a client for work but she was destined to be somewhere else that day.
“I saw a dog in the middle of the road and it was obviously limping so I knew it had been hit,” she told WXYZ.
As it turned out, Debbie Allen is a dog owner herself, she said she pulled over and the traffic came to a standstill when the on-the-loose German Shepherd ran uphill.
According to her, she wanted to make sure that the dog wouldn’t be hurt or hit by an oncoming vehicle, so she looped around to get it.
However, the dog got scared and it ran back onto the dangerous highway.
She didn’t give up on the then-sacred German Shepherd, so Allen went back to her car and tried hard to stop traffic to the best of her ability.
It’s now or never.
Allen made sure she was doing things safely, thankfully, another driver decided to stay with the Golden Shepherd while she was trying to loop around.
Fortunately, by the time she returned, Michigan State Police had already arrived on the scene.
“I sat with the dog and told him he was safe and I had him look at me because he was looking for an escape route and I said no, no, look at me you’re safe,” explained Allen.
Allen said that the dog was well-fed, well-groomed, and definitely a good boy. Perhaps, the dog just got startled for some reason that’s why it ran from home and ended up on the dangerous highway.
The Humane Society was just on time when they arrived on the scene. They were able to take the dog safely, according to them, the dog wasn’t microchipped.
The German Shepherd was then brought to the Michigan Humane location on Chrysler Drive. They’re just waiting for the dog’s owner to come to drop by and reunite with their beloved pooch.
Responding to being called a “hero”, Allen said, “I am not a hero just a human being.”
