Christmas is just around the corner, and I bet plenty of households are already lit up with beautiful, sparkling lights along with colorful wreaths hanging at the door. The classic Christmas songs could be playing on everybody’s radios and TV’s too. And it’s not only the humans who get thrilled when this jolly season comes — dogs do too!
This dog was sitting in front of the TV when some people on the screen suddenly sings.
This year may be considered the longest year that we all had, and it is terrible. However, this golden retriever named Hugo enjoys the simple little things at home. Just before December came, Hugo’s parents had already put up the Christmas decorations, giving their home a lovely, jolly color.
One day, the parents left the TV on showing the Three Tenors perform their own rendition of Bing Crosby’s famous White Christmas. Upon hearing them sing, Hugo ran in front of the TV and sat there like he is at the front row seat of their concert. Hugo could not resist singing along with the men on the TV, and even his parents thought that it was just so precious to watch.
The dog seemed to enjoy the song very much.
Hugo bobbed his head back and forth as he howled in unison with the Three Tenors’ singing. Sometimes he gets so excited that he just lifts his head and belts his loudest howl.
Sometimes he would provide occasional barks to spice up their version. For three whole minutes, the proud dog sat on his spot, giving his all with all his barking and howling. He looks so genuinely happy that you cannot dare interrupt him from what he was doing. At the end of the performance, the people rewarded the singers with their loudest claps and cheers. If those people were also there to watch Hugo sing-along with them, he would also be rewarded the same, and maybe with some tasty treats too!
Hugo’s parents made sure to tape the whole thing.
The dog’s parents were quick to grab their camera to record the priceless scene. They decided to share the clip on the internet and the netizens were quick to give their most lovely response.
Some people thanked Hugo for being the beacon of light during these dark times. A YouTube user even wrote:
“This is too cute! I follow Hugo and look forward to his next sing along. I think he’s got the Christmas spirit!”
Just imagine how many smiles Hugo delivered to the world without him even knowing. This lovely dog deserves all the love he could get.
Why do dogs respond to opera singing?
It is not only opera singing, but any high-pitched sound that they could hear. Although, you have to admit that they look like they are really singing along, just like Hugo in the video. It is more like a reflex or a born habit that they respond to any sound that triggers them. Another example is the siren sounds. Sometimes, they use howling to communicate with other dogs, especially with a pack of wolves while hunting. In other words, there is nothing to worry about and it is just your dogs being dogs.
