This family absolutely loves their giant rabbit.

Giant bunnies seem to come up in lots of different television shows and movies for some reason. There must be a fascination with such a gentle and soft creature being so large! Veggie Tales has a story of a giant chocolate bunny and Wallace and Gromit have an entire movie that is literally named “The Curse of the Were-Rabbit”!

Even though those stories aren’t real, giant bunnies do exist!

While not the towering creatures in popular media, giant bunnies are definitely a real thing. Known as a Flemish Giant Rabbit, these animals are the largest of their species! They are a domesticated breed of rabbits that are known for being incredibly patient and gentle around humans.

The Flemish Giant rabbit is a very large breed of domestic rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus domesticus), normally considered to be the largest breed of the species. Flemish Giants are historically a utility breed bred for fur and meat. The breed is also known for being docile and patient in being handled, resulting in the large animals commonly being kept as pets.

Cocoa Puff is a Flemish Rabbit that lives with a loving family.

If Cocoa Puff isn’t enough to make you fall in love with this bunny, the way that he is a part of the family will. Cocoa Puff has a “brother and sister” that he has grown up with. While his siblings are human, he doesn’t seem to mind in the slightest! Whether it’s playing with toys or romping around the house, Cocoa loves his siblings.

When the family watches tv, Cocoa comes to sit next to them.

He seems to love it when his two-year-old sister uses him as a pillow while watching a movie! He always is sure to get some pets and scratches so it probably pays off for him. Usually, we view rabbits as skittish but Cocoa loves to play with his family.

Funny enough, the kids even take Cocoa Puff on walks!

It would be quite the sight to see a MASSIVE rabbit being walked down the side of the road by a two-year-old with a leash. It probably causes some to stop and double-take but the family doesn’t mind at all. Cocoa takes it all in stride (or hop?)

The family got Cocoa for Macy (the two-year-old) and it was one of the best decisions they made.

When they first got the bunny they weren’t really sure how things were going to turn out. They originally planned on Cocoa being an outdoor bunny but they soon realized just how calm and loving the rabbit was. They absolutely fell in love and couldn’t bear the thought of him being outside alone.

As a social animal, he fits in perfectly with the family.

Whether “fitting in” looks like causing trouble with his siblings or stealing apples from the table, Cocoa is in a house that loves him as much as can be. They recognize just how smart he is as well. He recalls when called to and even knows a few tricks. Having him around has taught the kids how to love and respect animals in a new way.
