Of all the cute things in the world, kittens and puppies have to be the cutest, right? They are just SO fluffy, floppy, and downright funny to watch. When they play around, you can’t help but feel happy to be around them. Since each of them is so good on their own, what happens if they play together?
People often think that dogs and cats can’t get along.
The infamous feud between dogs and cats isn’t really all its barked (excellent pun) up to be. The biggest factor when getting cats and dogs to be friends is raising them together. If they are little friends together, they will be big friends together! Essentially, if you want a nice dog and cat, start with a nice kitten and puppy.
Rocky and Simon seem to have figured this out.
Rocky is a little German Shepherd puppy that absolutely loves to play. Can you blame him? He is a puppy for goodness sakes. Rocky also has a sibling named Simon. The only catch is that Simon is a sibling by birth; he is one by adoption. Simon is a kitten close to the same age as Rocky!
Their owner decided to take a video of the two of them playing, and the results are hilarious.
The two of them seem to be friends and pretty comfortable around each other. Rocky might be the more “playfully annoying” one out of the duo, but he is just having a bit of fun. The video starts with Rocky instigating his brother a little bit with a playful paw swipe.
Not to be slighted, Simon has his own arsenal of defense against Rocky’s attacks.
Playing is essential to the development of little animals (and little humans!). Without play, they can’t learn what is acceptable and what isn’t. They learn what kind of bites hurt and how much you can push a friend until they respond. When Rocky playfully swipes at Simon, the kitten goes into defense mode.

A kitten’s best defensive position is on its back, claws out. Simon is on the defensive but is definitely in play mode. The two of them roll around and have a ball playing.
There are a couple of times when Rocky thinks twice when he feels the sharp little claws that Simon has!
The sharp claws of a kitten is a good deterrent for many potential playmates! Thankfully Rocky is a good sport and rather bullheaded. He can’t help but want to play even after taking a good pricking to the nose and legs. He also has some fur to protect him.
You will laugh out loud near the end.
While the two of them are playing, Rocky chases Simon to the edge of the couch. Simon goes on his back and swipes at Rocky, only to realize that he swiped too far! His momentum carries him off the couch, and he lands with a “THUD” on the floor. The person recording the video can’t help but laugh.
It is just good, wholesome fun.
Watching them play together is sure to boost your mood. Remember, puppies and kittens are the best things in the world!
