Being the center of attention and the life of the party can be awesome. But some don’t care to stand out.
Instead, they prefer to blend in.
The same goes for dogs, too! One particular dog loves to blend in, hanging out with a crew of identical friends.
Meet Tsuki, a beautiful black and brown dog that lives with a talented human companion named Mio Hashimoto in Japan.
Tsuki’s unlike most dogs. Not only is Tsuki absolutely adorable, but…
You see, Tsuki has wooden friends.
Yup, human companion Mio Hashimoto’s a sculptor. The talented artist has already made countless wooden carvings of practically everything… including dogs.
Some of them are literally based on Tsuki, the perfect model!
The carvings are so realistic it’s hard to tell the difference between them and the real thing.
Which of these adorable dogs is Tsuki?
Mio Hashimoto has some outstanding work, drawing inspiration from nature and especially Tsuki.
I legitimately cannot tell if that bunny is real or not…
Wait, was that a llama? Of course, Tuski’s absolutely adorable, standing out among wooden friends. And that’s a great pose for a new carving!
Every now and then, Tsuki and friends play outside, at least when the weather allows. The summer weather’s especially awesome.
Again, which one is Tsuki? I seriously can’t tell.
Is Tsuki a dog or a chameleon?
Turns out, Tsuki’s just an adorable dog and model for countless, cool carvings!
I wonder how much a commission would cost. Maybe I can get one shipped in from Japan.
Tsuki and friend are enjoying their outdoor time. Plus, it’s a beautiful day.
The carvings are basically Tsuki’s exact dimensions and they’re so cute! Tsuki’s truly a master model.
Mio Hashimoto’s woodwork art imitates real life. I imagine Tsuki can’t stand still modeling for all that long, anyway.
I think Tsuki’s a little tired.
Although Mio Hashimoto’s Instagram is in Japanese, a simple Google translate adds some nuance.
“Sculptor, Japan. Sculptor Mio Hashimoto and his pet dog Tsuki who live in an old folk house in the north of Mie prefecture. I am making Kusunoki animals”
This one appears to be a mother bear holding her beautiful cub. The carving makes a wonderful addition to the yard and gives Tsuki a couple more friends to play with.
Is this the modern-day Michelangelo of wooden animal carvings? Sculpting’s underrated these days.
These carvings are simply fantastic. The degree of craftsmanship and artistry is of the highest caliber!
Tsuki certainly loves it, too!
Sometimes the wood gets a little messy during carving projects…
From time to time, Tsuki has some fun in the sawdust.
As a wonderful bonus surprise, it’s mini-Tsuki!
Maybe that’s Tsuki as a little pup. Either way, it’s adorable.
Is that a sloth on its mother’s back?
Notice the wooden boot, frog, and cat in the background. Mio Hashimoto can craft much more than just dogs and Tsuki.
These may very well be the cutest carvings I’ve ever seen.
Tsuki’s a big reason for it. Combine that puppy charm with the sculpting talents of Mio Hashimoto and you get beauty.
When you have skills like this you’ve gotta put them on display. Right now, Mio Hashimoto has over 23 thousand followers on Instagram!
What do you think of these carvings? If you were going to buy a wooden carving, what would you commission first?
