Little puppies are some of the cutest things in the world. When we see a newborn puppy, we can’t help but “awww.” When they are this little, they are unfortunately very vulnerable. They can’t look after themselves and need a momma dog or a human to make sure they are going to be okay. One little puppy was recently found in dire need of help.
A few cops in Daytona Beach found a little package they were never expecting.
While on their regular rounds, a group of police officers found a little something extra that they were never expecting! It all started with an anonymous call that tipped them off. Their swift response may have saved a life that day.
On a cold January day, the Daytona Beach Police Department got a call that there was a puppy in a cage under a bridge.
Once the call came in, a team was dispatched to check things out. Making their way to Seabreeze Bridge, they started looking for what the caller had told them. The caller, who was anonymous, said that there was a puppy under the bridge in a cage. While this isn’t ever a good thing, the below-freezing temperatures turned this call into a life or death situation.
Searching under the bridge, they finally found a little blue kennel.
Walking over to the kennel, the police officers found a tiny little puppy that had been left completely alone. The puppy was in dire condition. They didn’t know how long the dog had been outside but it was absolutely freezing. Getting it out of the kennel and into the cruiser to warm up was the first thing they did.
In the video, we see just how cold the pup is.
Even with the little bit of fur the pup had, it couldn’t have lasted long outside. In the video, we see the little dog violently shaking and shivering while it sits on a towel, belly up, in the officer’s lap. It is making these horrible little noises as it tries to let the people around it know that it is hurting and cold.
Letting out muffled whines and whimpers, you can tell that the cops had arrived just in time.
The cops proceeded to pass the little dog back and forth, trying to warm it up. They hold it in their arms and try to let the car’s heat warm up the frozen dog. It is an absolutely horrible thing to watch. Thankfully the cops are kind enough to care for the little puppy.
One of the cops even wants to take the pup home!
While they are holding the little dog, one of the officers mentions that he wants to take the helpless dog home. The other officer asks if he is going to and he admits that he probably won’t. It is a big responsibility to bring a new dog home and care for it as it needs!
As the little dog warms up it starts to get a bit more vocal.
You can tell the puppy is warming up slowly as the cops hold it. You know it is getting warmer because it starts to get a bit more vocal with its little whines and whimpers. Watching the little dog, you can see that they feel sorry for this puppy that was left outside in the freezing temperatures.
The officers named the puppy River and it was adopted by one of the DBPD!
It seems that out of some horrible circumstances good things can still happen.
