Rascal was found wandering around the streets of Marysville, Washington in 2015. The shy cat was taken to a local kennel. A rescue group named Purrfect Pets saw a photo of the cat online, and they decided to take him in.

Purrfect Pets found a wonderful foster home for Rascal, and the cat’s entire personality changed once he was in a loving home. Rascal was no longer the scared cat he had been in the kennel. Instead, he transformed into a playful, loving cat.

Once Rascal was healthy, Purrfect Pets took him back to their shelter and put him up for adoption. Right away, they ran into a few problems. Rascal hated being in a cage, and he refused to eat while he was in one. So Purrfect Pets sent Rascal back to his foster home, where he was much happier.

Soon after Rascal got back to his old foster home, Purrfect Pets ran into another problem. While Rascal loves spending time with humans, he’s not much of a cuddler—he’s happiest when he’s playing with toys or playing games. Unfortunately, many people who came to look at Rascal were put off by that fact.

Rascal waited and waited for someone to take him home. Finally, Rascal’s perfect new owners came to see him: a couple named Cerise and Jim.

“When Jim heard that nobody wanted him, he said Rascal was meant to be with them and they came and took him home on April 25, 2015,” Purrfect Pets told Love Meow.

Rascal is now four years old, and he’s as happy as can be.

Jim and Cerise love the rambunctious cat, and Rascal loves them back. The couple started an Instagram page for Rascal where they share photos and videos of their cute kitty.

Cerise and Jim gave Rascal his unique nickname, “it’s a trap,” because of a game he likes to play. Rascal will lay down on the floor with his soft belly up. He’ll look up at his owners, asking them to pet him. But it’s a trap! As soon as they touch his belly, Rascal will playfully attack their hand.

Don't fall for it. The belly may look soft and fuzzy but it's a trap!

Rascal isn’t wild all the time, though. He also has a heartwarmingly sweet side. Jim told Love Meow:

“Fortunately, Rascal is extremely handsome, has a sweet side that offsets his wild side, produces big gigantic purr’s, and sleeps on Cerise’s feet every night.”

Purrfect Pets are happy that Rascal is doing so well. The rescue group told Love Meow:

“Rascal is the type of cat that probably would have been returned to the shelter multiple times, just for being himself. Mr. Wild got extremely lucky: his forever family accepts and loves him just the way he is.”

Rascal may be a bit wild, but he still has a big heart and plenty of love to give. We’re thrilled that this sweet cat has found the perfect home!
