Ducks win ‘eating contest’ in seconds
They were really hungry. 😏

Some are fast and some are slow eaters. Everyone has that friend that seemingly takes forever to finish a meal.

But people tend to eat faster when they’re hungry.

Apparently, ducks do, too.

Most people can relate to hastily scarfing a meal down as the cure for intense hunger.

Hunger can be harmful, really throwing off someone’s mood. I mean, I get grouchy if I haven’t eaten for just a few hours.

Lone peas aren’t generally thought of as the cure for an empty stomach. But people care less about the type of food they’re eating when facing extreme hunger.

Never sleep on peas… They’re delightful and nutritious, containing high amounts of fiber, calcium, magnesium, and potassium. Evidence suggests they can lower the risk of cancer and heart disease.

They’re not so bad now, are they?

Back to our bowl of peas.

In the distance, two eager ducks can be seen scampering towards the bowl with some pep in their step.

They absolutely love peas.

Or are they just really hungry? Or both?

They don’t hesitate, quickly running right up to the peas. They haven’t eaten in a long while.

Their patience is about to pay off.

The ducks approach, looking around. They start by probing the bowl.

The inspection’s passed.

The camera person lowers the bowl. The ducks’ attention intensifies. They’re ready. They’ve been ready for hours.

Madness ensues.

The duck duo doesn’t hold anything back.

It’s kinda like watching Kobayashi and Joey Chesnut compete at Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest. Although I’m not quite sure how I feel about the contest, these ducks are absolutely adorable…

And hungry.

Ducks have pretty eclectic palettes, dipping their webbed toes in a variety of different foods.

Wild ducks are known to eat fish, snails, frogs, algae, leaves, grass, roots, insects, seeds, and grain.

They also eat berries, fruits, and nuts.

Ducks are rather refined organisms, and their palettes know no limit.

They slurp down some more peas before taking a much-needed break.

They get back at it, rapidly gulping down some more peas. I’ve never seen ducks move their heads so fast!

The bowl of peas wasn’t really meant to be the basis of competition, but these ducks turned it into an eating contest.

And they both won.

Dozens at a time, they keep destroying those peas…

Until there’s little to nothing left.

Compare the following to the first full bowl of peas:

It took them about 15 seconds to finish off the entire bowl…

No, these ducks aren’t crazy. They’re just hungry.

It happens sometimes. We’ve all been there.

The video is aptly titled “Ducks annihilate a bowl of peas.” Well, that’s exactly what happened. The descriptive verbs, “annihilate,” “destroy,” “demolish,” and “eradicate” could all work here.

The duck duo completely devoured their petite plate of peas!

The peas stood no chance, up against two hangry ducks itching for a substantial meal.

These ducks should definitely enter some food eating competitions. But they’d probably be competing in a league of their own.

Were the ducks’ actions illuminated by intense hunger? Or do they just really, really love peas? Probably a little bit of both.

Well, I’m gonna grab a much-needed bite to eat. I’m pretty hungry all of a sudden.

What do you think of these ducks? What’s your worst hunger experience?
