Meet Tyler and Beaker: two unlikely best friends who love each other more than anything in the world!
Beaker and Tyler first met in 2015, when Tyler was only nine months old.
Tyler’s parents went to a feed store to get some wild bird seed, and while they were there, they saw a duckling for sale. The couple fell in love with the duckling, and they decided to bring him home with them. They named him Beaker—or Bee for short.
Tyler’s dad introduced him to Bee soon after they arrived home. The duckling imprinted on Tyler, and from that moment on, the baby and duckling were inseparable!
“Bee sat in his lap and next to him while he was on the ground. He climbed on his shoulders, snuggled under his neck, and never wanted to be far away,” Tyler’s mom, Jennifer Young, told ABC News.
Over the next few months, Tyler and Bee started doing everything together. The two would chase each other around the house, and they’d also take naps together.
When Tyler began speaking, his first word was naturally “duck!”
Jennifer was amazed when she realized how many similarities there are between having a duck and a dog as a pet:
“It’s no different than a dog, really,” Jennifer told Metro. “Bee sleeps inside and wears a diaper during the day, but that’s the only difference.”
Jennifer decided to document Tyler and Bee’s friendship on Facebook. She started a Facebook page for the two friends, and now it has over 50,000 followers! Everyone loves seeing adorable photos and videos of Tyler and Bee hanging out together.
Tyler is now four years old, and he and Bee are as close as they were when they were babies. The Youngs also added another bird to their flock: a sweet white duck named Flip!
Flip and Bee get along very well, and Flip also loves hanging out with Tyler. Tyler and his ducks spend their days running around their house and backyard, playing games together. Tyler also enjoys dressing up in costumes and chasing the ducks around!
Tyler has also found some amazing ways to show Bee how much he cares about him. When Bee turned three, Tyler planned a whole birthday party for him. He even gift-wrapped some cherry tomatoes, Bee’s favorite food. As you can see in the video below, Bee loved his present!
Tyler’s parents are happy that their son and their ducks have formed such an incredible bond.
“I never pictured myself having a pet duck that lives inside. But it’s amazing to see these two in action,” Jennifer said.
