Carla Moore, from Harrowsmith, Ontario, is the co-founder of an amazing 17-acre farm called Happy Tails Farm Sanctuary.

On their Facebook page, Carla explains, “We promote the welfare of animals for the benefit of the public by spaying or neutering domestic unwanted pets, feral or stray animals and surrendered, abandoned, and abused farm animals, including but not limited to pot-bellied pigs, commercial farm pigs, poultry, sheep, and goats.”

The sanctuary is dedicated to the humane treatment of all animals and also runs fostering and adoption programs to find them all loving homes.

In November of 2016, Carla and her husband Harry found tiny, multi-colored kitten on their property.

As animal lovers, they didn’t hesitate to take the kitten inside to give her the love she so desperately needed.

This stray 4 ½ -week-old kitten became known as Dora— and the couple never expected that she would play such a big role in rehabilitating animals in her future!

After taking Dora in, Carla heard a farmer was looking to give away a tiny, 2-day-old lamb whose mother had passed away. The farmer didn’t have the time to raise the newborn himself and was hoping to find somewhere that would be able to provide immediate, round the clock care.

Carla and Harry immediately knew they had to help the lamb but weren’t sure if he’d make it without his mother to nurse him. He wasn’t in the best shape— he needed medication and surgery, as well.

But the couple was hopeful enough to give him a proper name. He was named Charlie, after Charles M.Schulz’s comic character Charlie Brown— for his similarities to the iconic underdog.

When Carla and Harry brought baby Charlie home, Dora was immediately interested.

The intuitive, little Dora could sense Charlie was in need of a friend, and she was right by his side, determined to nurse him back to health herself!

“Dora the kitten ran straight to his crate, and stayed with him until he woke up and came out to play again,” Carla told The Dodo.

Dora was ready to play with her new roommate and was sure they’d be the best of friends!

“They had an instant connection, like it was always meant to be.”

The two animals had an immediate bond— and the fact that they were a completely different species wasn’t even on their radar!

Dora and Charlie did everything together; they played, they cuddled, they ate hay together. Heck, they even slept together! Basically, these two just couldn’t get enough.

“Both animals were in dire need, and both animals were taken in by us. Both animals were brought back to health, and together they are now living out their lives here at Happy Tails Farm,” Carla told Love Meow.

Thanks to Dora, Carla, and Harry, Charlie has grown into a big, healthy lamb and is now well enough to live outdoors. Despite this change in rooming, he still spends all his free time with Dora, though!

This story is so sweet. Little Dora was saved by loving humans and went on to repay the favor by helping other animals in need. She has made a miraculous transformation from the orphaned kitten she once was.

Nowadays, she and Charlie are living out their happy lives with Carla and Harry at the sanctuary.
