Dogs are loyal creatures who typically become our best buds. Although there are many words you might use to describe your pooch (sweet, funny, loving) – some pet owners are able to add “heroic” to their list.
The canines in the compilation below don’t wear capes, but they sure know how to jump into action when needed! From miniature to mighty, these dogs are winning over the internet with their big hearts.

None of us want to envision being attacked, but wouldn’t it be nice to know if your dog would protect you if it did happen? A couple of pet owners appear to be putting their puppy to the test.
The man pretends to kick the female while she cries out in response. Fortunately, it only takes a moment before a teeny-tiny pooch comes bounding over, barking and going after the “attacker.”
He may be small, but just don’t tell him that.

Swimming in the pool is an excellent form of exercise, as well as a peaceful way to unwind. But one man learned that because of his dog’s protective nature – it can lead to a headache too.
As the pet owner is swimming a lap across the pool, his dog seems worried about him. So, the canine makes a huge Superman leap from the side straight on top of him!

In one of the clips, a dog can be seen holding onto something tightly with her mouth while sitting in water. And from what it appears, she’s not about to let it go!
Turns out, it’s her owner’s stretched out t-shirt – and she’s trying to stop her from going into the creek.
Surely the girl’s mom is appreciative to have a second pair of eyes looking out.
This pooch became a hero when he saved another kind of creature.
In 2017, a video went viral of a dog named Storm pulling a drowning baby deer out of the Long Island Sound. Now that’s a good boy!
One man wanted to film his canine’s rescuing skills – so, he flipped right into the pool.
The dog in the clip immediately goes crazy at the sight. It barks, runs around, then goes in after the guy who’s pretending to be in trouble. A person sitting on the side helps encourage the rescue as well.
Once the dog reaches the swimmer, it grabs his hand, then makes sure he’s holding on and following it to safety.
Wouldn’t that be comforting to know in case there was a real emergency?
There’s a theme in this compilation video. Yep, the majority of clips revolve around dogs trying to save their human friends from the water!
According to Animal Planet, Golden Retrievers, Irish Setters, Newfoundlands, Water Spaniels, and English Setters are some of the dog breeds known for being great swimmers.

It doesn’t take long before he’s had enough worry, and jumps in after the youngster!
While nobody ever wants the fun to end – you gotta admit, that’s pretty awesome having a protector like that.
