This talking dog has the internet laughing at his adorable request for a kitten.
Very few people are able to resist the allure of a tiny kitten to play and cuddle with, and this YouTube video shows that apparently, humans aren’t the only ones who feel this way. In the video, posted by Best Friend Services, a dog is anxiously asking his human whether he got him a kitten, with hilarious and adorable results.
While the dog’s “talking” is clearly a voiceover, it is amazing how well his actions and facial expressions line up with exactly what he “says.” If you didn’t know any better, you would assume that this is actually the conversation the pooch and his human are having.
The video begins with the human asking:
“Hey, remember how you wanted a kitten?”
To which, the dog gives him his full attention. When the human continues:
“I went to the pet store today.”
The pooch seems to get excited; we can even see his tail wagging. After confirming that his human really did go to the pet store, the dog tells him, “C’mon let’s go” while walking away and making a gesture that clearly indicates he wants (and expects) to be followed.
Instead of following the dog, the human keeps talking.
He tells the dog to “keep your collar on,” before continuing:
“You wanted a girl […] A tabby.”
At this point, the dog clearly assumes he does indeed have a kitten sister somewhere in the house, as he literally jumps for joy, bringing his front paws up off the ground in excitement. He also says:
“Oh, I can’t believe it!”
Then, he starts questioning this new knowledge.
“A cat, where is she?”
The dog even looks around the room in search of the kitten with an expression we associate with confusion. He asks, “Is she out here?” and walks toward the exit to the room they are in.
The human keeps playing with the pooch’s emotions at this point.
He says:
“Wait, you didn’t let me finish. […] So, I went to the pet store. And I looked at the snakes.”
The dog not only makes a disgusted face but even says, “Bleh,” in response.
When the human adds “I didn’t get one though,” the dog looks a bit relieved. He continues on the same note:
“Then I took a look around, and I looked at the guinea pigs. You know what guinea pigs are, right? I looked at the mice, gerbils, parrots, newts, hamsters, kittens…”
At the word “kittens,” the dog gets incredibly excited, running around with plenty of energy and wagging his tail. But his human adds “and the hermit crabs,” to which the pooch says, “Oh, come on!” and jumps up in a frustrated manner.
The dog seems to be fed up with his human’s stalling, which is good because he gets to the main point.
The pooch even threatens that if he doesn’t get a kitten he’s “going to chew this couch’s arms right off.”
When his human plays with him a bit more, telling him about seeing the turtles, the dog is clearly very impatient. But then, we hear a meow from off screen, and the dog looks super ecstatic. He asks:
“What was that?”
So, the human replies:
“Let me tell you. You listening? Went to the pet store, for shelter kittens. I picked one up.”
The dog starts jumping around in excitement again.
Not only is this video adorable and funny, it is also for a good cause.
After the conversation, text appears:
“Pets need a pal to talk to.”

We get another glimpse of the dog before the video ends, answering “yes” to his human when asked if he wants to see the kitten.
