They are supposed to be mortal enemies. Well, at that’s what cartoons have told us.
But in real life, it simply isn’t true.
The myth that cats and dogs don’t get along is just that… a myth.
There’s plenty of videos on the internet to prove that cats and dogs can be friends.
But this video goes above and beyond that.
Not only does it show a cat and dog getting along, but it shows a dog laying his life down for a cat.
The video shows a dog diving into a pool of water to save a cat’s life.
A woman from Turkey posted the video which appears to show a cat who has got himself into a little trouble.
It starts with a terrified-looking who is flailing around in what appears to be a koi pond.
The cat may have been trying to eat for fish for dinner and failed majorly.
Either way, a dog spots the cat clinging to some sort of structure in the pond for dear life.
Suddenly the dog becomes frantic pacing back and forth trying to figure out how he can help the kitty.
The dog looks like he picks up a cord or rope and tries to bring it over to the cat to grab on to.
He then puts his face up to the cat who starts to claw or paw at the dog’s face repeatedly.
The dog seems completely unfazed by this. Then it finally comes to him. He has no choice but to jump in and save the cat.
So that’s what he does. This clever dog swims underneath the cat.
He then lifts the cat up so the cat is above water and doesn’t have to struggle.
The cat clings to the dog’s back as the dog swims over to the ledge and tries to pull them both up.
The cat finally gets close enough so that he can climb himself out.
The dog, however, is still struggling to do so.
He then falls back into the water. But this dog isn’t about to give up. He keeps trying and, eventually, pulls himself out.
The dog then runs off to safety after his heroic act.
Some people on social media wondered why the heck the person who was filming didn’t stop to help them or whether the video was staged.
Either way, this dog cared enough about a cat to go out of the way to save its life. You can catch the admirable pup in the video below.
