Meet Prince, the adorable Labradoodle who’s more than just a pet; he’s a beloved member of the Lebowhl family.
Living in the bustling city of New York, Prince, along with his human parents Sara and Zach, enjoys a life full of urban adventures.
The family dynamic took a heartwarming turn in 2017 when Sara announced her pregnancy.
Throughout the nine months, Prince was a constant companion, sticking by Sara’s side as if he knew that their family was on the brink of an expansion.
The day finally arrived when Sara gave birth to a baby girl, Halle.
The new parents were a bit anxious about how Prince would react to the newest family member.
But their worries were unfounded. Prince was smitten with Halle from the get-go.
Sara recalls, “When she first came home, he went right up to her and sniffed her.
He knew she was little and fragile. But he always stayed close and kept a very close eye on her.
He was truly a nanny dog from the first day.”
Over the next two years, the bond between Halle and Prince grew stronger.
Halle adores Prince, and the feeling is mutual.
As Halle transitioned to sleeping in her own room, she would sometimes wake up in the middle of the night.
Prince, ever the attentive “nanny dog,” would often accompany Sara and Zach when they went to check on her.
Then, Sara had a lightbulb moment.
What if Prince could help Halle go back to sleep all by himself?
So, she began leaving the doors to both her room and Halle’s room open.
The plan was simple: if Halle started crying, Prince would walk into her room to comfort her.
The experiment was a resounding success. Sara shares, “Surprisingly it has worked out well.”
“We crack the door open for him when she gets up, and he walks in to greet her. He has a little routine he does, including rolling around on the ground. Then he will look at her and lay down. The amazing thing is that this calms her, and she goes back to sleep.”
The family’s Nest camera captured these tender nighttime moments between Prince and Halle.
Sara was amazed at how quickly Prince could soothe Halle back to sleep.
“Prince has been an unexpected savior, allowing us a bit more precious minutes to hours of sleep.
When he walks in the room, we know she is in good paws and we can all get some more rest,” she said.
The world got a glimpse of Prince’s incredible nannying skills when Sara uploaded a video on YouTube.
The video went viral, racking up over 1.4 million views.
People couldn’t get enough of the special bond between Prince and Halle.
But it’s not just nighttime when Prince shines; he’s also a fantastic big brother during the day.
He loves playing with Halle and even brings her toys when she’s upset.
