Animals are adorable and they always make us smile. Dogs, in particular, are super cute when they react to treats they’re given. Now, imagine the tiniest dog receiving a treat- doesn’t this sound like the most precious thing ever?
Norbert the dog is an 11-year-old mixed breed pup that weighs only 3 lbs and is only 7” tall. Only by looking at him, people fall in love with his sweet little face and the tongue that he sticks out on the side as if he’s being cheeky.

When, in 2009, Julie went on PetFinder to find a dog that would be best for her and her lifestyle, she bumped into tiny Norbert. He was the only puppy in his litter and Julie was told he was a Chihuahua and Yorkshire Terrier mix.
Of course, apart from his sweet face, there was something else special about Norbert, too, that required special attention on the part of Julie. He was extremely small!
Julie adopted him and she soon found out he was the most adorable dog ever, but there was no Yorkshire Terrier in him. The latest DNA test revealed he’s probably Chihuahua and Poodle, but nobody really cares, because he’s unique and one-of-a-kind.

But Norbert isn’t just your basic pet. He’s a therapy dog.
When he was still a puppy and accompanied his mom to an eyeglass store, Julie was told he would make a great therapy dog. At the time, she had no idea what a therapy dog was or what it was supposed to do, but after a little research, she decided it was probably worth a try.
So, Julie trained Norbert herself, and today he volunteers as a therapy dog at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and by special request.

Now, he is proud of many of the tricks he knows, but a few years ago he became viral on YouTube with more than 3M views, when he reacted to a treat he was offered.
In the video below, you can see him at first waiting for a treat. He’s excited but he knows how to hide his impatience. When he’s finally given the treat, he looks pretty happy. He probably thinks it was the last treat of the day, but he was kind of cool with that.
Until the second one makes its appearance. Norbert opens his eyes widely and he looks like he was really caught by surprise! He had no idea he was in for such a surprise!
Again, he sticks out his little tongue and makes everyone’s hearts melt! But he doesn’t make a move to the treat until his caregiver offers it. At that point, he eagerly takes it in his mouth and devours it in no time!
People loved his reaction and they upvoted the video 72k times, while more than 2,500 YouTube users left comments below it.
Most of them commented on how cute he is:
“This creature is many things, but ‘dog’ is not one of them. This is a stuffed animal given life. Probably hamster,” someone wrote.
Others commented about what Norbert’s reaction reminded them of:
“When you find that extra fry in the bottom of the fast food bad.”
