This dog is guilty and he knows it, with adorable results.
There is no doubt that the internet is filled with hundreds of thousands if not more videos of animals in a range of situations, but nothing beats the cuteness of a guilty dog. One video, posted by Leah Delerme a few years ago, is certainly among the most adorable you will find.
The caption for the video sets it up pretty nicely, explaining:
“Miller got busted eating off the counter and tries to apologize with a smile.”
The video begins with Miller looking away from the camera and the person talking, who is presumably Leah.
“Miller, Miller, look at me.”
And he complies, slowly turning his head in Leah’s direction. Even so, he doesn’t turn it all the way to face her, clearly showing some guilt. At this point, Leah moves the camera so Miller faces it more directly, but he still doesn’t want to make eye contact. She then asks:
“Miller, did you eat off the counter?”
His guilty expression is pretty much all the answer we need, even before Leah repeats the question.
“Hey, did you eat off the counter?”
At this point, you are likely to laugh.
Not only does Miller look guilty, but he bares his teeth in what is probably an imitation of a human smile. It is cute and hilarious, an expression most people don’t expect to find on a dog.
Miller maintains his funny expression for a reasonable amount of time as Leah asks:
“Did you? Did you eat off the counter? Are you supposed to do that?”
His expression doesn’t begin to change until after she asks another time:
“Tell me, did you eat off the counter?”
At this point, he closes his mouth completely and looks away again.
He only turns his head slightly back to Leah when she says his name. That doesn’t last long, however, as he quickly looks completely away, turning his head a full 90 degrees from Leah, who repeats:
“Miller, did you eat off the counter?”
When she keeps talking, Miller turns his head back towards her and the silly grin reappears briefly. He’s already facing away by the time Leah asks, “did you?” Leah insists he look at her and owns up:
“Don’t look away.”
Miller listens, still with a very guilty expression on his face.
Once she repeats the question yet again, “Did you eat off the counter?” he bares his teeth in a smile again.
Now, Leah tries a new method, asking him:
“What do you say? What do you say?”
Following a few more cute facial expressions from Miller, Leah tells him:
“You say sorry. Miller, you say sorry.”
The next time she repeats his name, his smile gets even bigger and you can hear Leah fighting to hold back laughter. The conversation continues in a similar manner, with Leah asking him to say sorry and asking whether he ate off the counter while Miller delivers either that smile or a guilty grin.
Near the end, Leah declares Miller “guilty” and he certainly looks the part.
Unfortunately, Leah hasn’t posted more videos of just Miller on her YouTube account.
She does, however, regularly post videos of other family members, including her daughter Avery sledding, clogging, and cheering. Miller does make an appearance in a video from January 2014 of him and Leah’s daughter, Avery, playing in the snow. In that video, he is having a great deal of fun running around, even being happy when Avery throws small snowballs at him.
There are, however, plenty of other guilty dogs on the internet for us to enjoy.
