How far are you willing to go just to give your fur babies the best life?

As paw-rents, we want to provide the best things for our babies. They may not be like human babies, but we love and care for our pets like they are one. It’s a given that we give them their basic needs, and if we have a little extra, something more.

Like humans, some pets have special needs, too. Whether they have an illness or are paralyzed, they would need extra care and attention so they would still get to move around as normally as possible.

When Erica found Pigeon, she was already paralyzed in her hind legs.

According to the vet, her previous owners left her at the shelter after a terrible car accident. It injured her back and paralyzed her hind legs.

Erica adopted Pigeon and made sure to give her a new lease on life. The wheelchair was the most obvious answer to her dilemma, but it didn’t come as easy.

Pigeon’s leg injuries prevented her from using a dog wheelchair at first.

It took quite some time before they could consider that option. Pigeon’s wounds had to heal first so she could wear it comfortably and use it with ease.

It reached a point where Erica could see that Pigeon was getting frustrated for not being able to move as fast as the other dogs. You can tell how much she’s trying to keep up by how she drags her hind legs as quickly as possible.

Finally, the day came for Pigeon to try on her wheelchair.

Erica got her one from a trusted maker, Eddie’s Wheels for Pets. She had one made for her other dog, and it has proven to be a life-changer.

The day she introduced the wheelchair to Pigeon, you can tell that she was a bit confused about what that thing was supposed to do. Erica took it one step at a time until Pigeon finally felt and knew how to use that wheelchair.

You can see her excitement and happiness by the way she ran around!

She immediately fell in love with it. Pigeon just went on and had her version of zoomies. It was magical.

Since then, Pigeon has loved getting on her wheelchair and playing around their yard along with the other dogs. She easily gets excited whenever Erica mentions her “chair” or whenever she asks her if she wants to go for a walk.
Pigeon has always been an energetic ball of fur, even before having a wheelchair.

But since she had one, she enjoyed life even more. She’s ecstatic each time she is on it, and riding in her wheelchair feels like second nature.

“Most dogs don’t take to their wheelchairs immediately. Pigeon truly acted as if her chair was an extension of her body, and it was amazing,” Erica said.

We hope for more healthy and happy years for Pigeon because she deserves it! Check out a video of Pigeon running below.
