A smile can make anyone’s day better. Even that random stranger deserves a smile. Who knows what other people are going through? Never underestimate the power of a smile. It works wonders.
Our four legged friend here sure believes in it. So what if he doesn’t have Brad Pitt’s dashing looks or George Clooney’s debonair grin? This goofy looking dog has a smile that brings laughs.
The eyes, chico.
This pooch has a stare that would get anyone giggling. Wide eyed, bright eyed, and looking as confused as most dogs do, he listens as his mom encourages him.
“Can you smile for the camera? Smile!”
A few moments later and he breaks into a… smile.
It’s a very toothy grin. Like how kids at birthday parties smile when it’s time for a group photo. Even mom can’t help herself. She chuckles to herself and admits that, “it’s not a good one.”

You have to admit. Those are a great set of pearly whites! Get this dog a commercial shoot for toothpaste!
This border collie holds his smile too. Maybe he knows there’s a camera? He is a very good boy, doing what his human asked him to do. They say it’s not so much about the looks, but the personality behind it. Well, here you go.
But maybe he needs more practice? He seems… stiff. Rigid for the camera.

Oh he may very well be. And with over 81 thousand views, he’s made lots of people smile with his infectiously toothy grin.
Now the border collie is a smart dog. But this one may be too smart for his own good.
Some say that when a dog smiles, it means they are relaxed and happy.
Perhaps the reason why they only do it for their owners. It’s not a smile like we humans do but close enough. A doggy smile is usually a response to a human’s smile. A phenomenon known as laughter contagion.
Dogs are known to surprise humans with their empathy and intelligence.
This border collie looks to be very well bonded with his mom. He’s all ears when she speaks to him and that gaze suggests he’s really trying to decipher what his human wants. He is so eager to please.
In fact Dog Time states that,
“The Border Collie is highly sensitive, often responsive to the subtlest command and seemingly able to predict his owner’s desires in advance.”
When dogs stare intently, they want attention and are trying to read their human’s body language.
So the fact that this border collie smiled after a little coaxing from his mom shows that he’s a smart boy! With a handsome smile! Okay, maybe not that handsome but he did it anyway. At least he brushes his teeth well. Learn from this dog. Smile at someone. Just not that way.
