Some people think that it is acceptable to own a pet animal as long as they can feed and provide shelter for them.

Though used ambiguously and interchangeably, there is a huge difference between raising a pet and keeping one. Keeping a pet, in its sincerest form, requires utter commitment and investment both financially and emotionally.

You are going to be responsible for the life of another breathing creature, and it is not a measly task. However, many people all over the world still go on being ignorant and reckless towards animals.

Just like how a dog named Bear has been kept as a prisoner for a decade and a half by his previous owners.

He was tied in a thick and hefty chain outside his previous owner’s home for fifteen years, wanting him to be a bodyguard of the property. He has to endure the harshest winters, the scorching heat, and the crashing boom of thunder and rain on his own.

He might not be locked up in a cage like other animals, yet his current situation is no better than being held as a prisoner. He has to spend most of his life in suffering and distress without enjoying the life he deserves. He is in such a miserable state when the Guardians of Rescue takes notice of his condition.

After spending most of his life suffering, a poor Labrador retriever mix gets rescued in Long Island.

They start to get in touch with the owners regarding Bear’s status and try to talk them out in setting him free. Fortunately, the former owners, whose names aren’t revealed, agree and finally give up Bear.

It is a tear-jerking moment when Bear spends his first few moments of freedom strolling on the beach, dragging his paws in the sand as the waves crash on him.

He takes on his new surroundings warily, letting this wonderful experience sink in. He looks so amazed every time he discovers something new or his eyes see something unusual, though mundane, like the ducks and the birds.

He even has his first sip of puppuccino, as the team gives him a tour of the island. And after being neglected for 15 years, he finds a new mom that will truly love and take care of him.

Kerrie Rosenfeld falls in love with Bear after seeing him in multiple media reports about the senior dog and decides to adopt him right away.
