We all know that having best friends is not only for humans. Even animals, like dogs, have their own best friends, too. And while best friends are mostly people with a lot of similarities, the way dogs choose their best friends is another story.
Meet Rocky, a Black German Shepherd who found a friend in a wild coyote.
Wait, what?
Yup, you read that right. Rocky’s best friend is not another German Shepherd. She’s not even a dog. The wild coyote has been a friend of Rocky’s since a couple of years ago and they seem to can’t get enough of each other.
In a video uploaded by a YouTube subscriber, Mark lagace, Rocky can be seen as he playfully runs in the snow alongside his friend who happens to be a wild coyote. He runs back and forth to his owner, making sure both his human friend and his coyote best friend are given the attention they need.
It’s a cold day out but the two pups, despite their glaring differences, are having so much fun.
While coyotes and dogs all belong to the canine family, the difference between these two animal breeds is quite clear.
For one, the time of day when these animals are active is not the same. Coyotes are not exactly nocturnal, but it has been observed that they are more active at night time rather than daytime. Dogs, however, love to play out in the sun.
When it comes to appearance, the variation in looks between dogs and coyotes is quite clear.
Both belong to the canine family, but coyotes are sleeker than domesticated dogs.
Their foreheads are flatter and their snouts are more pronounced.
Coyotes appear to have longer legs than dogs, but dogs have deeper chests. The way they walk is also different because coyotes normally align their paws when they roam. Dogs are much more unpredictable and are playful when they go about.
They may look like wolves at a glance, but coyotes are actually smaller. But, because these animals are from the wild and are not domesticated like dogs, it is better to observe them from a distance as they are likely to be aggressive when close to humans or other animals, for that matter.
However, the case of Rocky and his coyote friend is quite different.
Obviously, they are not scared to be around each other and they have been the best of friends for a couple of years before the video was taken. Wow!
Unlike the popular notion that coyotes are not friendly, this sweet coyote is definitely affectionate towards Rocky. They are not wary of each other and they simply love to snuggle next to each other.
Playtime is also a very fun time for these canine buddies.
These pups are clearly happy with the friendship that they have made over the years. Their unique connection only proves that true friendship will still prevail, no matter how different we can be from one another.
