We may never fully understand people who mistreat animals. It’s impossible for anyone who has a pet they love to imagine dropping off your pup and leaving them to die. When this story surfaced, dog owners across the world felt it.

While it isn’t excusable, we probably know why this happened.

In Kalamazoo, Michigan, a woman found a cage in the middle of the road. A dog was sitting inside that closed and locked kennel with only a bag of food next to him. Someone had dropped him off and hoped someone else would find him before he died.

This dog was left on a dead end road in Kalamazoo today like this. If you know anyone that can help, he is currently with a friend. He is unaltered and young (1-2). He met her dogs through the cage and was fine, but that is all I know. I told her I would reach out. She can only keep him through the night.

With the times being as they are, the dog owners probably couldn’t handle a pup’s finances.

Few people are doing super great right now, especially as we go further into winter. One of the biggest stress factors is finances. While dogs are incredible, they can also be expensive. With the coronavirus’s added financial burden, it’s likely that the owners of this dog dropped him off and were unable to pay for his upkeep anymore. That reality is what caused Lindsey, someone helping, to post this:

Please no bashing. His family apparently thought that this was better then the pound and we do not know their circumstances. We are just looking to find placement for the poor dog with someone who can help get him neutered and keep him safe.

Thankfully, the pup was in good health.

The pitty was young and seemed to be in good health, which is a great sign for future adoption. From what it looked like, he wasn’t mistreated by his previous owners. He was full-bodied and well-fed with a blanket and a bag of dog food included with his kennel. Is this acceptable? No, of course not. It does appear, however, like the pup was left by someone who wanted him to find a good home.

The ultimate goal is to have him go to a loving forever home.

After he was found and taken in for the night, he was taken to the Kalamazoo Animal Rescue until he got fixed and given all his vaccines. After that, he went to a foster home to wait for adoption. The best part is that he gets along with other dogs and is as sweet as can be!

“Our mystery dog who was left by his family earlier this week is thriving in a foster home. He is currently waiting out his stray hold and then will be avaliable for adoption. Thanks to a small army of volunteers and Kalamazoo Animal Rescue.”

With a dog like this, finding a new home wouldn’t be hard.

And it wasn’t! Lindsey, the volunteer helping his transition, posted an update to her Facebook and let everyone know that he was adopted! While the horrible story isn’t something that we wish on any dog, it does seem to have given the exposure that helped find a home for the wonderful pup. Sometimes, things DO work out for the better.
