Sometimes Nature decides that she is curious about these “humans” that have been hanging about recently, interesting things occur! All jokes aside, wherever the wild intersects with the mundane, we get an incredible window into some wonderful things. Even in our own backyards, we can see incredible and amazing things if we look hard enough.
One woman had an interesting encounter with “nature” one day in her shop.
Lori Jones works at the Horsetooth Inn and RV Park in Fort Collins, Colorado. While on her regular shift, she had an unexpected visitor that wasn’t too interested in her wares or in lodging.
A young doe sauntered into the shop that Lori was working at.
Randomly, a female deer decided that the Horsetooth Inn was where she wanted to be! The shop is full of gifts and the doe actually started walking up and down the aisles, almost as if she was looking around.
“It was hilarious,” Lori told The Dodo. “She was looking at the sunglasses and the chips. I was laughing so hard.”
After looking around, the doe was lured outside.
Using some snacks, Lori was finally able to get the doe back outside where she couldn’t hurt herself or anyone else. We wonder what kind of snacks Lori used to get her out! From the way the doe was looking at things, maybe it was just a 10% off coupon!
With the doe gone, Lori thought her day was going to go back to normal.
Any day that a deer wanders into your shop isn’t “normal”, but Lori did think that it was over. With the doe gone, she got back behind her desk and went back to her routine. She thought all was calm… until.
30 minutes later, the deer came back – and she wasn’t alone!
A half-hour later, Lori is once again surprised that the doe came back! This time was different, however. This time, the doe brought her whole family. The doe walked in and her little fawns were hanging outside the door like good kids, waiting to be invited inside!
“About 30 minutes later, here comes the deer again with her whole family. They were just looking in the doorway like, ‘Can we come in too?’ I said, No! It was so funny.”
The unusual event allowed Lori to get some really close-up photos!
Working in a gift shop, you don’t normally get these kinds of visitors very often. Taking her opportunity to see the animals closely, Lori lured them back outside but didn’t miss the chance to take a few photos. Who wouldn’t take a few personal ones, right?
Colorado has a lot of wildlife but it is often very private.
Whether its mountain lions, bighorn sheep, elk, or deer, the animals usually stay away from humans. It seems that these deer just wanted to say hello and peruse the shop. Who knew deer had such a drive to buy?
Lori got a great look at some wonderful animals that day.
