Orchestra performances aren’t necessarily “cute.” When we think of classical music, we definitely think of a music genre and culture that is classy and timeless. Maybe we think of upscale people wearing nice attire or a love scene in a movie that is made even more dramatic with the smooth music. Typically, we think of all the ritzy and high-end people or events that are often soundtracked by classical music.
When you go to see an orchestra perform live, this is also true. We think of a classy performance that no one would dare to ever interrupt. The orchestra plays their big pieces and we all sit in silence and enjoy it from afar. It’s not a place where the unexpected happens.
So you can imagine how surprised people were when this hilarious moment took place at one particular orchestra performance.
People even joked that it was “the cutest moment in classical music.” We are going to have to agree with that hefty but true statement.
In the clip which was uploaded in 2017, we see the incredible Vienna Chamber Orchestra taking the audience’s breath away while performing in Turkey. They were in the middle of a beautiful piece until, well, something a bit strange happened.
All of a sudden, a big dog decides to walk on in. He walks very slow and steady, clearly really taking his time as he makes his way into the performance.
The way he enters is so unapologetic that the crowd can’t happen but to laugh. It feels almost as if he’s saying, “Hello everyone, this is my show now. Thank you for coming.”
He continues to walk further and further into the orchestra until he gets to the middle where the conductor is. That’s when he stops and stares at the conductor. Everyone in the crowd shares the biggest belly laugh at this very moment because it almost seems like the dog is trying to say hello to the conductor who, you know, isn’t busy conducting an entire orchestra or anything.
The crowd soars with laughter and cheers and the orchestra probably thinks at first that it’s for them but nope… It’s actually for a dog — an unexpected guest, if you will!
You can see some members of the orchestra on the left begin to laugh as they, too, notice the dog.
And when you think the dog might continue to walk off stage, he doesn’t. Instead, he picks his favorite member of the orchestra and pops a squat right next to them. This dog clearly had no intention of leaving. He felt very at-home on stage and seemed like he was ready to spend the rest of the night there.
We are not sure what happens next but we can only assume that the dog probably rested his head on the floor and fell asleep after that. Hey, maybe he found the music to be soothing and relaxing! Can you even blame him?
The clip when viral after it made its way onto the internet, amassing over two million views as well as thousands of likes and comments.
“‘Let’s see, the center of attention is riiiiiiight about…here,’ plops down,” one person commented, mocking the dog.
“The yawn was a bit rude, but I guess everyone’s a critic,” another person joked.
“Hey, he isn’t bothering anyone, or interfering with the Orchestra. He’s just enjoying the best seat in the house,” another realistically pointed out.
We’re definitely not mad about it… If anything, the sweet and well-behaved dog only helped enhance the performance!
Would you watch an orchestral performance that offered a little comedic relief? Perhaps with some puppies?
It’s a no-brainer for us — we definitely would! Why not have all of the class and laughter wrapped into one?
