The couple now shares their lives with an astonishing 45 dogs and a majestic grey wolf, all roaming freely on their expansive four-acre property nestled in the serene landscapes of British Columbia, Canada.
This extraordinary story began in 2004 when Mark Starmer and his wife Sharon welcomed their first dog into their home.
Their initial act of kindness sparked a profound mission to rescue and adopt dogs that were considered less adoptable due to their advanced age or medical conditions.
Today, their property is a sanctuary where approximately 45 adopted dogs and a grey wolf live in safety and bliss.
The sight of these joyful dogs playing and exploring their spacious home is a testament to the couple’s unwavering commitment to providing a loving and secure environment for these animals.
Upon entering the Starmer’s property, visitors are greeted by an eclectic mix of breeds, including a rescued grey wolf, a Portuguese Water Dog, a Shar-Pei, two Poodles, four St. Bernards, and about ten Siberian Huskies.

They invest their time and resources in matching their dogs with the perfect adoptive families, even if it means traveling great distances, as Mark did on a trip to New Mexico to ensure one of their dogs found its new home.
