“April 20th is our dating anniversary so we decided we’d get married on that day and stream the wedding,” Autumn Miller said. “I was originally supposed to have two bridesmaids and a groomsman. We were at PetSmart and I saw the dresses and knew [our dogs] had to have the outfits.”
Some people dream about getting married since they are children.
Their wedding day is a day they’ve thought about for most of their lives
But the COVID-19 pandemic has unfortunately completely destroyed the planned festivities for many of these special days for couples across the world.
But this hasn’t stopped people who love each other from joining together in union.
People are still getting married during the pandemic, their ceremony is just a lot different than they had planned.
Autumn and Christian Miller of Cincinnati, Ohio originally planned to marry at the end of March.

They were devastated when the pandemic canceled their plans.
But Autumn was determined to wear that dress and Christian was determined to call Autumn his bride.
Eventually, they decided to get married anyway. All of their guests would be able to watch the wedding online.

Their bridesmaids would even be at the wedding ceremony too.
And in-person.
They just weren’t human bridesmaids.

Their bridesmaids were their dogs Sasha and Oreo.
“Sasha is our blue heeler and Oreo is a rat terrier/whippet mix. They’re actually both of our dogs from before we met,” Miller told The Dodo.
The four-legged bridesmaids were even dolled up in matching dresses.
They were elegant blue and white dressed that actually went pretty well with the bride’s dress.
Instead, they adorned their deck with some string light, flowers, and some of their other wedding decorations.
Not only were Sasha and Oreo bridesmaids, but they also served as witnesses. Christian’s brother married them.
Autumn said her dogs seemed to know that what they were witnessing was something significant because they were very well behaved.
“Normally, [Sasha] barks at a leaf blowing but during our ceremony, she didn’t make a peep,” Autumn said.“The entire wedding Sasha sat at [Christian’s] feet. She didn’t even move when we kissed.”

The couple sat down to a nice dinner on the deck after the ceremony.
That’s when Oreo decided to take a nap on the train of Miller’s dress.
Being a bridesmaid is hard work you know. Autumn said her family was glad that they could be at the ceremony, even if it was only virtually.

“They were all bummed they couldn’t be with us but they still thought it was beautiful and magical,” Autumn said.
The bride says she was glad she could still celebrate her wedding even if it wasn’t in the fashion she had intended it to be.
She had everything she needed for her wedding to be special, including the pups she loves.

For the Millers, having their dogs play a part in their wedding made the day even more special.
“I felt like a princess and we were both really, really happy our doggos got to spend it with us,” Miller said. “They were total hams.”
