Dog Siblings Meet On Street And Recognize Each Other Right Away
They hadn't seen each other since they were puppies!

One of the saddest things about picking up your puppy is knowing that you’re separating them from all of their siblings that they will have spent the last few weeks with. With time, you’d expect your dog to possibly forget about their siblings as they grow up, meet new dogs, and make new memories.

If a chance reunion was to happen, you probably wouldn’t expect your dog to recognize their sibling. You’d just expect them to acknowledge them in the way that they usually acknowledge other dogs. So when some estranged pooches met up for the first time since they were puppies, their owners were not expecting this adorable reaction.

Twitter user Libpincher shared snaps of the adorable moment that the two dogs met along with a bit of backstory provided by her dad. The post instantly went viral with over 900k retweets and almost 200k retweets, and it’s not hard to see why. It’s simply adorable! Libby’s dad described the encounter through a text message to Libby, writing:

“So, Dave was out walking his dog, and there was a couple walking towards him with a white version of his dog. Turns out they are brother and sister from the same litter. But instead of just playing like they do with other dogs, look at this.”

He then sent over some pics of the two dogs embracing, and the levels of cuteness are almost too much to handle.

Much to everyone’s surprise, the two cockapoos recognized each other almost instantly. The dogs, named Monty and Rosie, immediately ran over to each other with big smiles on their faces and embraced each other in the sweetest doggy hug. Apparently, the pups had been born into the same litter last June, but they hadn’t seen each other since they left to go to their respective homes.

“There were six of them,” Susan Killip, Rosie’s mom told The Dodo. “But Monty and Rosie were always together.”

It’s amazing that when the dogs met, it’s as if no time has passed since they were puppies together! It was probably a very exciting moment for the two siblings. Susan said:

“It was so lovely, they both just jumped up and hugged each other. It was amazing they remembered each other after 10 months of not seeing each other.”

There was some debate on Twitter about whether the dogs actually recognized each other, or whether they were just excited to see another dog in the park. Anyone who owns a dog will know that they do tend to get excited about pretty much everything, but we’d like to believe that these two pooches really did remember each other.
