It’s not easy being in law enforcement, especially in today’s world. These brave men and women put their lives on the line for people they’ve never met before. Every day, they walk into situations without having a clue as to what the outcome will be.

Working as a cop

It’s true that cops write speeding tickets and arrest people for a host of criminal charges. They also get into car and foot chases trying to capture bad people. But that’s not all they do … sometimes, they face a particular situation that ends up being hysterical.

Keeping the highways safe

As part of a cop’s responsibility, they drive for hours on highways looking for drunk or speeding drivers. The goal is to get potentially dangerous people off the roadways. But one occasion, it wasn’t a human behind the wheel of a car that posed a threat.

A strange discovery

Just a few days ago in Dunwoody, Atlanta, the police received a very odd call. Someone reported there was a cow on the highway. Mind you, this was on I-285, which is incredibly busy, and hitting a large animal could easily cause an accident that injured someone or worse.

It wasn’t a prank call

Sure enough, responding officers found a single cow taking a leisurely walk down the highway. How the animal found its way to I-285 was the least of their concerns. They were more worried about preventing a catastrophe.

A reported accident

Just before receiving a call from a concerned driver about the cow, there had been an accident on almost the same stretch of highway. They couldn’t determine if the cow caused the crash or if it got loose because of the crash. They did find out later that this cow had fallen off a trailer traveling down I-285.

Working on borrowed time

Officers from the Dunwoody Police Department showed up to see what they could do. Come to find out, the cow had been roaming around for roughly an hour. The story itself is funny but what’s even funnier is that it wasn’t even the officers who captured the animal.

Lending a hand

That’s right, as hard as the cops tried to get the escaped cow under their control, they failed. It just so happened that a citizen on the scene had a rope and was the one that captured it. Here you have a case of the cops needing assistance.

Focused on the task

Keep in mind that when cops show up at any scene, even one as funny as this, they’re focused on one thing … solving the problem. So, they weren’t thinking of anything else other than to round up the animal. But you can bet when it was over, they all had a good laugh.

Everyday people

Considering this made the news and the video has now gone viral, it’ll be a long time before these officers hear the last of it. But remember, they’re humans like everyone else. They appreciate when funny things like this happen and can take a joke along with everyone else.
