Popeye has found her mate, and his name is Nima.
Did we mention Popeye is a cockatoo and Nima is her human dad? But you know what, Popeye loves her human mama, Parastoo, as well.
In fact, that’s what she wanted when she was alone at the shelter. When Nima and Parastoo found her at the shelter, Popeye was desperate looking for someone to just love her forever.
She did have someone who loved her for 14 years, but then they decided they didn’t want to live with a cockatoo anymore.
That’s how Popeye ended up at the shelter.
Popeye was so empty and lost when they first met her, but it all changed when she met Nima.
Nima was her mate. Well, she considered Nima to be her mate, and she just loved him.
Popeye always sits on his chest and doesn’t make even the smallest noise. But when he’s not there, she will shout out his name to look for him.
Popeye will stay by the door until he comes home.
Another thing that Popeye instantly connected to is music. We all know cockatoos love to “talk,” but it turns out some of them also love music.
“We realized that if we put her on the piano when my husband is playing, she starts going with the beats,” Parastoo explained.
And it wasn’t just classical and mellow songs that Popeye had a connection with.
When they played any metal song, Popeye would do a headbang that she had never done before. Popeye’s a metalhead! Who knew?
Nima and Parastoo love Popeye because she was sweet and calm. Most of all, they love her because she loves them.
Or is it the other way around? She loves them because they love her?
But it doesn’t matter, right?
What matters is that they all love each other forever. It must have been so hard for Popeye to go from being loved to being abandoned and from living in her forever home to living in a shelter.
It’s a great thing that Popeye had gotten over any mental health issue she may have experienced when she first arrived at the shelter. We’re not sure how long she was there until this Canadian couple found her.
“So glad she found new people to love who adore her in return. I can’t imagine what made her previous human give her up, but must be a bigger reason than just getting tired of her. Hope they’re ok too,” Allison James echoed.
Yes, we don’t know the circumstances of her previous owner so we can’t judge.
We can only be happy that Popeye found a new loving home.
“Popeye’s current bondmates were specifically chosen for her and she instinctively knows it and is so grateful. The love that flows between them is so precious. Here’s to a long and fruitful relationship!” Beau Lijah added.
There was no doubt in their minds that they would take Popeye home that day at the shelter.
We’re just glad they did.
