This pup’s surprising home was a shipping container, perched 25 feet high at a Texas port.

A group of marine inspectors from the U.S. Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston stumbled upon her while working.

It was a discovery they never expected to make.

The crew, busy inspecting the port’s numerous containers, heard barking and scratching from above.

Following these sounds, they found the source: a container, which they carefully lowered to the ground.

When they opened it, out popped Connie, the Container Dog, much to everyone’s surprise.

Poor Connie had been trapped in this dark box for at least eight days.

USCG officer Ryan McMahon told The Associated Press, “She was definitely pretty skinny.”

But despite her ordeal, Connie was overjoyed to see her rescuers, a fact made evident by her wildly wagging tail and eagerness to drink the water they offered.

Connie’s luck is about to change dramatically.

Instead of being shipped overseas with cargo, she’s going to find a new home.

Sh was originally scheduled to be shipped out to Dubai.

Many families are eager to adopt her through Forever Changed Animal Rescue, a testament to her irresistible charm.

The rescue group shared that Connie is a bit underweight at 30 pounds and is battling heartworm.

They’ve started her treatment immediately.

Despite her health challenges, she’s incredibly sweet, albeit shy and understandably scared of her new environment.

There’s more good news for Connie.

Forever Changed announced that she’ll receive a comprehensive health checkup once she arrives in Virginia from Texas.

She’s traveling in style, courtesy of a Pilots N Paws private plane.

Until she’s fully recovered, she’ll be under the care of the group’s founder, veterinarian Andrea Deoudes.

Andrea says that Connie is a calm sweetheart that gives her no troubles at home.

Andrea was also shocked to discover that Connie was also pregnant!

Little did anyone realize the lucky dog was also carrying lucky pups.
