Everyone just wants to be a part of something! Whether we want to be like our older siblings growing up or the cool kids at school, getting accepted into the groups around us is important for a healthy life. For a dog, this means learning some tricks and not getting on the couch when they are dirty. What does it mean for a cat?

Maybe you CAN teach an old cat new tricks.

Dogs don’t have a monopoly on doing fun tricks! All you need to do is look at SeaWorld and see a dolphin doing something incredible to know that. The thing that allows dogs and dolphins to do these tricks, however, is the promise of a reward. If the animal doesn’t care about the reward, it will be hard to get them to perform.

Cats are infamous for not caring.

People don’t really buy cats because they want an intimate life friend like a dog provides. Most cats will be quite disappointing to you if you get them with that intention. They are usually cool, calm, and ultimately, aloof! Cats are never too concerned with what people want from them.

One cat proved all that wrong.

Didga is a cat who seems to be turning that “aloof cat” stereotype on its head! Instead of just walking around the house dogs with an attitude of “I’m better than you,” Didga joins in on their fun. With two Rottweiler siblings, she gets along just perfectly.

Didga was raised alongside two dogs.

Raising a cat alongside dogs is sure to help your cat be more “dog.” Didga is one of those rare cats who loves to do tricks! Captured on video, we get to see an uncommon moment where a cat seems to actually care about something!

The three animals (two dogs and a cat) all line up on the floor just to show off a bit! Phoenix and Lucy are the Rottweilers and our friend Didga is, of course, the cat. The time has come for Didga to show off what a determined cat can do!

Their owner gets everyone ready.

Lifting a hand in the air, the human gives the call for all the seated animals to get into a ready position. Bringing his hand down and giving the voice command, “Lay down,” we see all three animals respond together! While this is just the first step, it is already pretty incredible!

Going down the line, the human has each animal rollover in turn.

Starting with Phoenix, the human signals with his hand and his voice to roll over. Phoenix stretches his big neck and flops around on the carpet, eventually turning over. Next up is Lucy. She gets the signal to roll over and underestimates the space she has! She rolls too big and bumps into Phoenix. With Didga being the last hope for a perfect roll, all eyes are on the kitty.

The human once again calls out and signals with his hands.

Looking at the human, Didga executes a flawless trick and rolls over with plenty of room to spare! 10 points, Didga! You may not be able to teach an old dog new tricks but you CAN teach a smart can almost anything!
