You might think cats and dogs are natural enemies, like something out of a Saturday morning cartoon.

But let me tell you about Oakley and Binx Dyer from Edmond, Oklahoma.

These two, a dog and a cat, show us that sometimes, the most unlikely friendships are the strongest and most loyal.

One evening, in the Dyer family’s backyard, a dramatic scene unfolded.

Oakley, a 6-year-old Havanese dog, was outside for a routine bathroom break when suddenly, she was ambushed by two coyotes.

The poor pup didn’t see it coming, and it seemed like she didn’t have a fighting chance.

This could have been a tragic story, but Binx, the family’s black cat, was watching.

With a protective instinct, Binx leaped into action, confronting the coyotes and saving Oakley.

“It was the craziest thing ever,” owner Lane Dyer told KFOR News, with a mix of awe and gratitude.

Binx wasn’t always part of the Dyer family.

She was a stray who chose them as her own.

And though cats often get a rap for being distant, Binx is anything but.

Her bond with Oakley is something special – which was evident the moment she came to the rescue, despite being a lot smaller than the coyotes.

Oakley was badly hurt in the coyote attack.

She was bleeding badly, and it was a race against time to get her to Neel Veterinary Hospital.

The situation was grim; there was a real chance she could lose her leg.

But Oakley is a fighter, and with the love and care she received, she made a full recovery.

The Dyers, initially puzzled by the extent of Oakley’s injuries, turned to their security cameras for answers.

What they witnessed left them in sheer amazement.

The footage revealed the extraordinary bravery of Binx, their little hero cat.

They watched, astounded, as Binx fearlessly charged at the coyotes, a David and Goliath moment in their own backyard.

“It was inspiring to see our little outdoor cat just jump at two coyotes that were attacking this little dog who she loves and run them off,” Lane shared.

This scary encounter brings to light a growing issue – coyotes in urban areas.

These clever animals are finding their way into our neighborhoods, and while they’re not usually a danger to us, our smaller furry family members aren’t always so lucky.

It’s a wake-up call for pet owners to stay alert and protect their beloved animals.

Cats like Binx often get misunderstood.

People think they’re loners, indifferent to the world around them.

But Binx’s act of heroism shows just how deep a cat’s love can run.

No one was going to mess with her buddy!

Since the incident, Binx has become a bit of a celebrity in her neighborhood.

As one admirer on social media said, “This little cat deserves a big bag of treats!”

Another one wrote:

“That’s a selfless little kitty right there…a heroine. Impressive how quickly she sized up the situation and acted. Extra (low sodium) sardines for her!”
