As a cat lover, it grinds my gears that kitties often get a bad rep. In the world of domestic animals, most people seem to prefer dogs. They say they’re more loyal, affectionate, and friendly whereas cats are cunning, independent, and cold. Anyone who’s owned a cat can tell you this is completely wrong. Some cats are more independent than others, that’s for sure. But still, kitties everywhere are very capable of forming a close and loving bond.
Most recently, I came across a video that shows a cat expressing this bond in a truly hilarious and surprising way.
It’s hard to track down information about the cat and the video. I tried Googling as many descriptions as I could come up with— but didn’t have any luck finding the excited kitty’s story. The 15-second video, which has been viewed over 919,000 times, shows a cat’s heartwarming reaction to her favorite human entering the room.
Although it’s short, it’s totally sweet. The cameraman (or woman) is walking down (what appears to be) a shelter hallway. The kitty is inside an office with glass walls and can see the human approaching.
The white bundle of fluff launches herself up with the excitement of an Energizer Bunny. I swear her back feet clear at least a foot of air. As the person approaches, the kitty keeps bouncing. You can almost hear her saying, “Pick me! Pick me!”
It’s so sweet to see this kitty’s excitement over her favorite human. As mentioned, people often (incorrectly) assume that kitties are emotionless and only care about water and food.
I really couldn’t find much about this adorable cat’s story. Maybe I’m just looking in the wrong place, however, because a YouTube commenter notes, “Read an article about this cat… He only does it when one specific person enters the room.”
People are touched by the kitties boundless love and enthusiasm. A few comments on the video read as follows:
“I’ll take two please.”
“Tell me this angel got a home!”
“How could you not pick that cat up, love it, and take it home with you.”
“I’ll take this kitty!”
