Pets are like our family. It doesn’t matter whether they’re furry or covered in skin— we love our babies. And losing them hurts just as much as losing any other type of relative or friend. What would happen if something happened to you, though? Would little Fluffy be heartbroken and concerned, or would she simply continue on with her day as if nothing had happened? That’s what Cory Williams decided to find out.
Williams is the beloved human of Sparta and Loki. Known as “The Mean Kitty”, Sparta has garnered over 536,000 followers on YouTube alone.
Williams describes him as “a very loving cat with a rugged edge”
Most recently, Williams went down a rather unusual train of thought. He wanted to know how his pets would react if he “died”. To find out the answer, Williams put his acting skills to use and his adorable kitties to the test.
In this video, which has been viewed over 4.5 million times, you see Williams walking into an empty room. The handsome man starts making disturbing gagging noises, dramatically cupping his hands to his chest. A few seconds later, he topples to the ground and lays there motionless, awaiting his cats.
Loki, The Mean Kitty’s more introverted brother, has absolutely zero reaction to the display. Sparta, on the other hand, is mildly curious, walking over, sniffing his Dad, and making a few tiny chirping sounds.
The tabby then lays down on the floor beside him, rolling over and joining in on the “nap”.
People have a few explanations for Sparta’s hilarious reaction. Saryn Chorney lays them out as follows:
A) The cat is no dummy. He knows his dad is alive, he can tell Williams is still breathing, and he’s simply nonplussed.
B) Sparta subscribes to the “not impressed” mentality of most internet cats and truly does not care if his dad has croaked or not.
C) The Mean Kitty knows his Dad is alive and wants to make him look as foolish, and feel as bad as possible by pretending he doesn’t give a damn whisker about the jerk.
D) Something happened. He checked it out, He’s over it. He’s ready for his nap now.
Williams’ hilarious video has been viewed over 4.5 million times in the past 3 weeks. People just can’t get enough of Sparta’s nonchalant reaction.
