Unless you’ve recently ordered an Amazon package, we never really know what’s going to show up on our doorstep that day. Life has a way of throwing things at us when we least expect it and we have to scramble to adapt!
For one couple, that “unexpected” package came from the woods.
Tony and Amanda were enjoying a normal day in their home when something incredible happened. As they went outside, they saw that an animal seemed to be on their front lawn. Getting closer, they realized it was a deer!
The baby deer seemed to be stranded and in desperate need of help.
The couple wasn’t really ready or expecting to take care of an injured fawn that day, but they clearly couldn’t leave it! Incredibly, the rescue of the deer turned into an amazing story!
Naming the deer Hoppy, they adopted him and nursed him back to health.
What is even wilder is that Hoppy decided to stick around! Instead of heading back into the woods to live, Hoppy stayed with Tony and Amanda! Soon, the little rescue fawn they saw on their lawn now day turned into a big part of their family.
Hoppy was a full part of the couple’s family.
Dogs are normal, cats are normal, but deer? Regardless of how strange it seemed, they kept Hoppy, and ever since that moment, they have been the proud pet owners of a pet deer! While that by itself is incredible, it wasn’t the whole story.
Tony and Amanda already had a pet before Hoppy – a pet cat!
While a cat and a deer don’t seem like likely friends, fate had something else in mind. Instead of the two being terrified of each other and refusing to get along, they became fast friends! Hoppy and the cat seem to have become one of those rare “woodland friendships” that seem more likely from a Disney movie than real life.
In a video released by Tony and Amanda, you can see just how much the two like to hang out!
Animals don’t really “hug” as humans do. Most of the time, they just lick each other. While this is pretty gross to humans (imagine licking your friends every time you wanted to say hi), it’s typical in the animal kingdom. In the video uploaded by the couple, we see Hoppy and the cat “expressing” their friendship as animals do.
Hoppy starts things off by licking his friend!
It’s pretty amazing to see how comfortable they two are around each other and the cat seems to enjoy it! Who knew that deer licked like cats do? We think that Hoppy probably learned to lick like this from the cat since he was raised in the household.
The noises? A bit gross.
If you can get around the constant licking noise, it’s actually a pretty cute video. It seems that the world thinks so too since it has over 5 million views! If you haven’t seen it, it’s definitely worth a watch.
