Chicken Little is a sweet cat who loves her dad Tony more than anything in the world. Unfortunately, in July 2019, Tony suffered a stroke and had to go into the ICU. He thankfully recovered, but it was clear he wouldn’t be able to live on his own and would need to go into a nursing home. Since the nursing home didn’t allow pets, he wouldn’t be able to bring his beloved cat.
Tony and his friends wanted to make sure Little went to a good home. Tony’s neighbor made a post on a local Facebook pets page, asking if anyone could foster the cat.
A woman named Amanda Hassan saw the post and quickly replied. Amanda was on the wait-list to be a foster mom with a local rescue group, and she knew she could give Little a good home.
Amanda took Little in and quickly fell in love with the cat. After a few days, she decided to officially adopt her.
Little quickly settled into her new home. She found a great patch of sunlight to sunbathe in, and she even took up gardening!
“Chicken Little is an aspiring florist, but she lacks dedication on sunny days. Her favourite flowers are ones she can roll around in and make a delightful mess,” Amanda wrote on Facebook.
Amanda loved having Little in her home, but she knew that Little and Tony were missing each other. And so, she decided to sneak Little into Tony’s nursing home for a visit.
Even though cats weren’t technically allowed in the nursing home, the nurses and care staff knew how much seeing Little would mean to Tony. And so, they simply pretended they didn’t see Amanda carrying in the cat carrier!
“The nursing and care staff just pretend they don’t see her,” Amanda told The Dodo.
Once Amanda was in Tony’s room, she let Little out of the carrier. At first, Little was a bit nervous since she didn’t recognize her surroundings. But as soon as she saw Tony, she started meowing and purring. Little ran up to her dad and started rubbing against his legs.
“He seemed to brighten right up when she did that,” Hassan said.
Tony pulled his beloved cat into his lap and started cuddling with her. Both Tony and Little were so happy to get to spend some time together.
Amanda hopes to bring Little to visit Tony every couple of weeks. She knows seeing Little will help cheer Tony up.
“We are hoping to take her in every couple of weeks,” Hassan said. “We are hoping to keep his spirits up with regular visits.”
Little is a sweet cat with tons of people who love her. We’re so glad Tony and Little will get to keep seeing each other!
