Ivie Lee and her boyfriend Jason are a kindhearted couple who live in an apartment complex in California. The couple regularly saw a stray cat wandering around the complex, and they began feeding her. They named the cat Mary.

For a year, the couple fed the cat almost every day. But one day, Mary disappeared.

Weeks went by, and Mary still didn’t reappear. Ivie and Jason began to worry that the worst had happened to her.

In July 2019, Mary finally reappeared. And she had an adorable little kitten with her.

“Look what happened when she came back!!!!!” Ivie wrote on her Twitter page.

Ivie and Jason were touched by the fact that Mary trusted them enough to bring her kitten to them. Ivie shared a sweet video of the cat mom and kitten on her Twitter page, and it quickly went viral, receiving over six million views. Everyone loved the short and sweet video!

After the video went viral, Ivie told her Twitter followers that she and Jason had decided they wanted to adopt Mary and her kitten!

Ivie and Jason called a local vet clinic and arranged to have Mary and the kitten checked out. They also arranged to get Mary spayed.

Ivie brought Mary and the kitten to the clinic, and they learned the kitten was a boy and in good health. The vet began getting Mary ready for her spaying procedure, but unfortunately, it didn’t go well. Mary began bleeding from her abdomen, which wasn’t normal. The vet also found growths on her liver, tongue, and upper lip. Ivie and the vet weren’t sure if Mary was going to make it.

Thankfully, Mary was a fighter, and she pulled through.

“Update: Mary made it everyone! She’s currently resting in the little recovery corner we made for her. We’re going to give her some space like our vet suggested, so we’ll take photos of her later. And the kitty is doing so well! He’s super energetic and loves to be pet!” Ivie wrote.

Ivie and Jason started a GoFundMe page to help raise money for the cats’ vet bills and food. They quickly reached their goal of $2,000—many of their Twitter followers donated.

Once Mary had recovered, Ivie and Jason officially adopted her and her baby. The mom and kitten quickly settled into their new home.
