Have you ever seen a Canada Lynx up close and personal? That would be outstanding, right?

If youā€™ve seen documentaries about them, you already know what a fascinating species they are. One thing is for sure.

Lynx have distinct ear tufts, short tails, and large padded paws that aid them when they walk on snow.

They are also very good at hunting. Their diet in the wild comprises small mammals such as rabbits, hares, and rodents.

They can also eat birds and occasionally larger animals such as deer, depending on what is available.

They are not pets.

It is illegal to own a Canada Lynx.

They have been hunted for their fur and for even for sport. This caused their populations to be threatened by habitat loss and fragmentation.

The Canada Lynx is still considered a wild animal, and because of their threatened numbers, they canā€™t be pets.

WildlifeBernie, a YouTube Channel, is owned by Bernadette ā€œBernieā€ Hoffman, a wildlife educator.

She specializes in common exotic animals and keeps a Canada Lynx who has become quite popular online.

Meet Maxwell, or “Max”, for short.

Bernie is based in New York. Thatā€™s why many have wondered why she has a wild animal.

On her website, Bernie said that she has a USDA federal exhibitorsā€™ license. Therefore, she can own a wild animal like Maxwell.

Bernie uploaded a video of Max that has warmed millions of hearts.

Max’s video has over 22M views.

In the said video, we see the Canada Lynx resting in a large box, just like any fat housecat would. He seemed so relaxed, as most cats are their cardboard kingdoms.

As Bernie came closer, Max stands up and offers up her head, which her owner gives some nice scratches to.

Then we hear his precious purrs.

Thatā€™s right, like cats, these fluffy furballs love to get scratches and will reward the giver with satisfying purrs. If they accept you.

Max then comes out of the big box and lies down on the floor. Maybe to get more comfortable as he received more pets and scratches from mommy Bernie.

Look at his massive paws.

They look so soft and cute.

Itā€™s so delightful to watch and listen to Max as he enjoys the attention and love that Bernie is giving him.

Max is still a wildcat.

According to the description of the video, Max is not domesticated, but he has been humanized.

This means Max is used to seeing and interacting with people, but since heā€™s still wild, he still has wild tendencies.

Knowing this, they educate people that, in any event, if they come across a lynx or any wild animal, they should be cautious.

Back to the adorable big baby cat. Max closed his eyes in sweet splendor before doing something surprising.

Max showed his tummy.

This has meaning. It means that he trusts Bernie.

He looked so relaxed as he enjoyed his afternoon pets and scratches from Bernie.

Max will turn 12 this year.

He is still charming, beautiful, and sweet. Bernie hopes that by gaining more viewers and subscribers, she and Max can share some important information with the public.

Itā€™s good to know that conservation efforts are underway to save lynx populations and their habitats.
