Sometimes it can be hard to remember that it’s not just our pets who deserve to be loved and cared for. And while we may not find larger animals like bulls as cute as we would do a puppy, that doesn’t make them any less deserving of having a happy life. Big or small, cute or menacing, animals still feel pain and suffering just like us humans do.

It’s videos like this one that help to reinforce that message.

The sad truth is that the majority of cows live a sad life. They’re either being killed for meat, or they’re impregnated constantly in order to produce milk before their calf is cruelly taken from them.

It’s an old-fashioned system that is still worryingly considered ‘the norm’ in 2021. We’ve moved on from many of our past wrongdoings, and we’re confident that, eventually, humans will begin to show some compassion to farm animals.

If you think that cows can’t feel emotions, then think again. Here is the story of Bandit the bull.

Bandit was subjected to cruelty and mistreatment every day of his life. The poor bull was chained up to a pipe, in a cold, concrete room. He was unable to move and only had the bleak, four walls of the building to look at.

He was paid a visit by Gut Aiderbichl Estates, who are an organization that is devoted to saving and helping animals, and has saved over 500 cows and bulls in total.

When they saw the awful conditions that Bandit was living in, they knew they had to help.

The crew immediately got to work on rescuing Bandit, and it’s clear that he feels an immense amount of gratitude towards them. He’s completely aware that he’s being rescued from these awful conditions.

After being tethered to a post for his entire life, Bandit is finally free.

The crew took Bandit back to their facility where they could nurse him back to health, and introduce him to luxuries like soft, comfortable straw.

After a life of being surrounded by rock-solid concrete, heavy chains and pipes, Bandit was completely blissed out by his new straw bed.

The moment that the team let Bandit free into the pen for the first ever time, you can see just how much his newfound freedom means to him. He even does what the crew called a “freedom dance,” and it’s truly heartwarming to see just how happy he is.

First off, Bandit goes to bury his head in his new bed. He cannot get over how soft it feels!

Bandit leaps around like a kid at Christmas, and his joy is totally contagious. We’re both heartbroken over his difficult start to life, and overjoyed that he is finally getting the comfortable, happy life that he deserves.

The blissful bull soon tires of his freedom dance, but before he goes to sleep, he wants to show his gratitude. In a moment that will bring tears to your eyes, Bandit walks over to one of his rescuers and places his head gently on him.

The bull leans his head gently onto his rescuer’s leg, and although he can’t talk, it’s perfectly clear what he’s saying:

“Thank you for rescuing me. I will forever be grateful for what you did. I’m free now.”
