Dog parents would do anything to keep their fur babies safe. Even if their dogs would go running down a busy street, most pet owners wouldn’t think twice about chasing them down the road.

Similarly, this is what happened to Hailey, a 17-year old girl, when she saw a big fat bear over their backyard fence walking towards her four dogs!
A Memorial Day gathering gets crashed by a bear intruder.
Hailey and her family were having a good time chit-chatting and enjoying each other’s company at a gathering when interrupted by a loud barking of Hailey’s four dogs.
They thought the pups were just barking at another dog, like usual. But, as they found out, none of their speculations were true. It was beyond their expectations.
A mother bear and her two cubs climbed onto the family’s fence in their backyard.
In the video footage, four dogs are seen running towards the bear while it walks on a steep, narrow fence together with her 2 cubs.
At first, they didn’t seem to cause harm yet when the dogs saw them and started barking their heads off, the bear swiped her paw at the larger dog while trying to protect her cubs. Eventually, the bear also tried to grab Hailey’s small dog named Valentina.
The brave act that Hailey did saves her dog’s life.
The loud noise caused by the commotion in the backyard made the people in the gathering panic, especially Hailey. With no doubt, she rushed out toward the bear which was still on the fence and pushed it away. The bear toppled backward leaving the other dogs unharmed!
She’s not even afraid when she shoves the bear off the fence! No sign of fear. What a brave woman!
“I go over to the bear, I look it in the eyes, and the first thing I think to do is push it,” Hailey told KTLA. “Push a bear. Push an apex predator. And to be honest, I don’t think I pushed her that hard. I just pushed her enough to make her lose her balance.”
Bears attacking humans are rare but bear encounters must be treated with caution.
Hailey’s family has seen bears near their house, but they have never been so close to them before. That day was the first time they witnessed a bear just a distance apart.
Although Hailey’s quick decision made her dogs free from the wild bear, her mom CitLally Morinico and Hailey herself said that even though her tactics were effective, they don’t recommend that anyone else do what she did.
“Do not push bears. Don’t do what I did, you might not have the same outcome.” — Hailey
The viral video of Hailey pushing the mother bear off the fence to protect her dogs earned respect from all dog lovers around the world.
They saw her as a hero, nevertheless, it is also important to note that Hailey’s act could put herself in danger which could have ended very badly if it didn’t happen that way.
