The most unlikely animal came to the farm’s rescue.
Crystal Walls, the owner of the farm located in Vancouver, Canada, had been vacationing with her husband in Oregon, USA when the unthinkable happened.
A bear had somehow breached the fence and broke into the farm.
Normally, Crystal had four dogs who kept the farm secure.
However, they were all with her during their vacation.
They never thought this could happen and there were no other animals to keep the farm safe.
Or so they thought.
The house sitter Christy Brooks usually comes around 9 am to feed the animals.
When she arrives, the animals usually greet her by the gate.
That morning, they were nowhere to be found.
Where were the animals?
That’s when Christy discovered that the fence was torn and a bag of feed was torn.
She did find the animals and they were all accounted for but something was off.
She called Crystal who went rushing back home.
The animals were all there so they watched the security camera footage to see if anything happened.
Yes, something did happen, they would find out.
That morning, around 4:30 am, a bear had torn down the fence and broken inside the farm.
With the usual security animals gone, who was going to defend the numerous goats, sheep, chickens, pigs, ducks, and cats at the farm?
There was one animal who bravely stood up to the ferocious bear.
Six-year-old Barbie-Q, one of the pigs who lived there, stood up for the farm.
“The bear just approached her. She stayed in the same stance. He came too close and she told him to back off,” Crystal said.
She faced the bear head-on with a few inches separating the two of them.
The two of them had a stand-off before Barbie-Q charged at the bear.
The bear, who probably didn’t expect that, stepped back.
“[The bear] definitely did not put up a fight to Barbie. He got out of her way,” Crystal added. “It was very unbelievable to see.”
The bear didn’t run off just yet though.
It sat down and held up its paw as if to say, ‘I come in peace.’
Barbie-Q didn’t believe the bear.
She quickly went where the other animals stayed and ushered them out of harm’s way.
The other animals sensed the danger and followed Barbie-Q’s lead.
After 30 minutes, the bear finally left.
The animals were now safe.
Proud of how Barbie-Q kept the farm safe, Crystal posted the video in her local neighborhood’s Facebook group.
Barbie-Q became an instant celebrity for defending the farm and the other animals.
Crystal still can’t believe how much attention Barbie has gotten from the group members.
It doesn’t matter though because all that fame hasn’t gotten to Barbie-Q’s head.
Although, she still expects to be fed regularly.
It’s a good thing to know that when danger arises, the Walls can count on the animals, especially Barbie-Q, to keep the others safe.
